  • Publication number: 20220207748
Abstract: A method for determining a contour of the representation, on a photo of an object made up of one or several elements, referred to as an “actual contour.” The method includes the following steps: 1) application of a first treatment to the photo so as to obtain a first image representing a first contour of the object; 2) application of a second treatment to the photo so as to obtain a second image representing a second contour of the object; 3) association, according to a predetermined association algorithm, of each point of the second contour with a point of the first respective contour, then removal of the points of the first contour that have not been associated with a point of the second contour, the first image then representing a corrected contour of the object.

  • Patent number: 11373782
Abstract: A method is disclosed to identify a port that is associated with a faulty cable. In one embodiment, such a method identifies a cable to replace. The cable provides a path between a first port, residing on a first component, and a second port, residing on a second component. The method further identifies whether an alternative path, bypassing the first cable, exists between the first component and the second component. In the event the alternative path exists, the method sends, over the alternative path, from the first component to the second component, a command to activate an indicator on the second port. This command is received and executed by the second component to activate the indicator. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11354208
Abstract: A first non-volatile dual in-line memory module (NVDIMM) of a first server and a second NVDIMM of a second server are armed during initial program load in a dual-server based storage system to configure the first NVDIMM and the second NVDIMM to retain data on power loss. Prior to initiating a safe data commit scan to destage modified data from the first server to a secondary storage, a determination is made as to whether the first NVDIMM is armed. In response to determining that the first NVDIMM is not armed, a failover is initiated to the second server.

  • Patent number: 11349672
Abstract: Techniques are described for multi-factor authentication and device verification based at least partly on a periodically changing (e.g., rotating) security code. A rotating security code may be generated on a user device and used to sign a certificate. The certificate may be encrypted, using a private key stored on the user device, and communicated to a backend service for verifying that the user device is authorized to access secure information. The backend service may decrypt the certificate (e.g., using a public key associated with the private key), extract the security code from the decrypted certificate, and compare the extracted security code to a security code associated with the user device. If the codes correspond to one another, the user device may be verified and provided with access to secure information such as secure data, a secure portion of an application, and so forth.

  • Publication number: 20220164929
Abstract: One embodiment provides a method comprising determining metadata corresponding to an input image, determining a black level of a display device and a peak luminance value of the display device, and determining a tone mapping function that adaptively compensates for the black level of the display device based on the metadata, the black level of the display device, and the peak luminance value of the display device. The metadata comprises a distribution of luminance values in the input image. The black level of the display device and the peak luminance value of the display device represent a lowest luminance value and a highest luminance value, respectively, achievable on the display device. The method further comprises applying the tone mapping function to the input image to generate a tone-mapped image that adaptively compensates for the black level of the display device and provided to the display device for presentation.

  • Publication number: 20220147708
Abstract: A dataset captioning system is described that generates captions of text to describe insights identified from a dataset, automatically and without user intervention. To do so, given an input of a dataset the dataset captioning system determines which data insights are likely to support potential visualizations of the dataset, generates text based on these insights, orders the text, processes the ordered text for readability, and then outputs the text as a caption. These techniques also include adjustments made to the complexity of the text, globalization of the text, inclusion of links to outside sources of information, translation of the text, and so on as part of generating the caption.
