  • Publication number: 20040251598
Abstract: A paper feed device includes a setting plate, a support unit, a driving unit, a power transmission mechanism, a link mechanism, and an operation lever. The support unit elevatably supports the setting plate, and elevates the setting plate when the support unit receives a driving force. The driving unit drives the support unit. The power transmission mechanism transmits the driving force from the driving unit to the support unit. The operation lever is switched between a first state and a second state. When the operation lever is in the first state, the power transmission mechanism transmits the driving force to the support unit. When the operation lever is in the second state, the link mechanism cuts off the transmission of the driving force to the support unit.

  • Publication number: 20040228669
Abstract: An inkjet printer includes a plurality of rollers, an endless transportation belt, a belt rotating mechanism, a recording unit, a printing medium supply mechanism, and a control unit. The transportation belt is laid on the rollers and defines a first recess portion, which extends in a direction perpendicular to a printing medium transporting direction, in an outer circumferential surface thereof. The belt rotating mechanism applies a rotating force to the transportation belt. The recording unit is disposed to face the transportation belt and forms an image. The printing medium supply mechanism supplies a printing medium onto the transportation belt. The control unit controls at least one of the belt rotating mechanism and the printing medium supply mechanism so that when the printing medium is on the transportation belt, one of front and rear end portions of the printing medium is located in the first recess portion.

  • Publication number: 20040189739
Abstract: In purge processing, ink ejected from a head weeps from a cap unit due to weight of the ink during the movement of a maintenance unit to a retraction position. Then, the ink is absorbed into a primary recovery portion mounted on a movable body. When the maintenance unit reaches the retraction position, the primary recovery portion comes into contact with an ink absorber of the secondary recovery portion so that the ink migrates from the primary recovery portion to the secondary recovery portion due to a capillary phenomenon. Also, when the maintenance unit moves to a maintenance position, the primary recovery portion comes into contact with an ink absorber of the secondary recovery portion so that the ink migrates from the primary recovery portion to the secondary recovery portion due to a capillary phenomenon.

  • Publication number: 20040174401
Abstract: A pump includes a case, a rotor, and a partition member. The case has a hollow inside defined by an inner wall surface thereof and includes a suction inlet through which fluid is sucked in the hollow and an exhaust outlet through which the fluid is ejected from the hollow. The rotor is rotatable in the hollow. The partition member is supported with respect to the rotor in the direction across the rotor such that two ends make constant contact with the inner wall surface defining the hollow, and is rotatable with the rotor. When the rotor is rotated, the partition member slides in the direction across the rotor and expands and shrinks in the same direction, thereby the two ends of the partition member make constant contact with the inner wall surface of the case. Accordingly, the fluid is sucked through the suction inlet in the hollow and the sucked fluid is ejected through the exhaust outlet from the hollow.

  • Publication number: 20040125189
Abstract: An ink-jet printer includes a belt conveyor mechanism, an ink-jet head having at its lower face a nozzle face where many nozzles are formed, and a maintenance unit that maintains the ink-jet head. Within the maintenance unit arranged are a blade, a wiping roller, an ink receiving member, and a purge cap, in this order from the near side to the head. The maintenance unit is first moved to a purge position at which the purge cap confronts the nozzle face of the ink-jet head, where a purge operation is performed. After the purge operation, attendant upon movement of the maintenance unit to get apart from the head, the ink receiving member, the wiping roller, and the blade successively confront the nozzle face in this order. With the movement of the maintenance unit, receiving ink with the ink receiving member and wiping ink up with the wiping roller and the blade are performed in order.

  • Patent number: 6744426
Abstract: A circuit mounted in the circuit board 69 of the pen 60 includes: a CR solution circuit 69e; an LC oscillation circuit 69c; and an FSK circuit 69d. The CR oscillation circuit 69e oscillates a signal with one of a plurality of different modulation frequencies that correspond to a plurality of different attributes, such as ink colors, pen tip thickness, and the like, of the pen. The LC oscillation circuit 69c is for oscillating a carrier wave for transmitting the signal oscillated by the CR oscillation circuit 69e. The FSK circuit 69d is for PSK modulating the oscillation frequency of the LC oscillation circuit 69c in accordance with the modulation frequency of the CR oscillation circuit 69e. The receiving side measures a time period at which the frequency of the carrier wave is maintained, thereby determining the period of the modulation frequency to know the pen attributes.

Abstract: A cleaning device for cleaning a printhead of an inkjet printer includes a cleaning blade, a cleaning blade reciprocating system, a cap member, a cap member moving system, and a first driving force supplying system. The cleaning blade reciprocating system reciprocates the cleaning blade near the printhead so that the cleaning blade wipes an ink ejecting surface of the printhead. The cap member is formed to cover at least a part of the ink ejecting surface and receive waste ink discharged from the printhead. The cap member is moved by the cap member moving system toward and away from the printhead. The cap member comes into close contact with the ink ejecting surface when moved toward to the printhead. The first driving force supplying system is selectively connected to one of the cleaning blade reciprocating system and the cap member moving system to supply driving force thereto.

  • Patent number: 6618760
Abstract: An improved method for retrieving next forwarding destination of a received data signal is disclosed. First, a plurality of first tables and a second table are stored in the retrieval table. The first tables are hierarchically arranged according to division of the destination address, an entry of each of the first tables including a second-table pointer indicating a next accessed second entry of the second table. The second table serves as an index table of the first tables. Each of entries of the second table includes a hop pointer and a first-table pointer indicating a next accessed first table. The second table and a selected one of the first tables are alternately accessed depending on a first-table pointer included in an accessed entry of the second table while retrieving an entry of an accessed first table using a corresponding divisional portion of the destination address. A hop pointer is read from a finally accessed entry of the second table as a retrieval result.

  • Publication number: 20030016666
Abstract: In a packet distributing apparatus and a packet distributing method which, in a situation in which a link can be allocated to a specific user or a specific traffic with priority, can effectively utilize any unoccupied link, a packet inputted via first through Nth the input interface circuits 2031 through 203N is provided by a transfer destination searching unit 205 with a transfer destination port and a transfer-admissible port. Then usage detecting units 2111 through 211N check the usage of a transfer-admissible port matching the pertinent one of first through Nth output buffer units 2091 through 209N, and distribute the packet to a transfer-admissible port bearing a less load than a prescribed level (less loaded transfer-admissible port), such as an unloaded port. If there is no such less loaded transfer-admissible port, the packet is distributed to the transfer destination port for which it is destined in its own right.

  • Publication number: 20010008530
Abstract: A shaper allowing an arbitrary transmission time and simultaneous transmission of a plurality of packets is disclosed. A content-addressable memory stores a plurality of scheduled transmission times, at each of which at least one packet is to be transmitted. A packet management table stores linkage information indicating a linkage of a plurality of packets that are to be transmitted at a same scheduled transmission time. A current-time searcher searches the content-addressable memory for a scheduled transmission time matching the current time. At least one packet can be transmitted at the scheduled transmission time matching the current time by referring to the packet management table.
