  • Patent number: 7515992
Abstract: A robot apparatus in which the storage capacity necessary for holding motion data is diminished in representing the emotion by motions exploiting the body resources. In demonstrating component behaviors of the robot apparatus, the basic posture, as the posture at the start time of one or plural movements forming a component behavior, is changed to express the emotion. Specifically, the robot apparatus includes variations for expressing the emotion for the basic posture (basic posture for the emotion). The respective resources are actuated from the basic posture for the emotion and reversion is made again to the basic posture to demonstrate the emotion.

  • Publication number: 20070250463
Abstract: A learning apparatus for building a network structure of a Bayesian network based on learning data. In the Bayesian network, a cause and effect relationship between plural nodes is represented by a directed graph. The learning apparatus includes storage means in which the learning data is stored; and learning means for building the network structure based on the learning data. The learning means prepares an initial population of individuals constituted by individuals each having a genotype in which orders between the nodes and cause and effect relationship have been stipulated, repeatedly performs processing for crossovers and/or mutations on the initial population of individuals based on a genetic algorithm, calculates an evaluated value of each of the individuals based on the learning data, searches for an optimum one of the individuals, and takes a phenotype of the optimum individual as the network structure.

  • Publication number: 20060183807
Abstract: Prior colloidal crystal preparation means requires much workmanship to obtain colloidal crystals, relying much on the expertise of an operator. To utilize colloidal crystals in various fields and develop them from now on, it is in demand to establish preparation means capable of preparing colloidal crystals with good reproducibility. The object of the invention is to meet such demand. A gas compressed in a compressor (1) is controlled by a gas pulse controller (3) to generate compressed air pulses, and the pulses are then guided to a colloidal crystal preparation vessel (6) having a flat plate type capillary portion to produce a pressure fluctuation, which is in turn used as driving power, thereby giving a flow and hard-stopping motion to a colloidal solution in the flat plate type capillary for formation of colloidal crystals of good single crystallinity.

  • Publication number: 20060184273
Abstract: In a robot device, an action selecting/control system (100) includes a plurality of elementary action modules each of which outputs an action when selected, an activation level calculation unit (120) to calculate an activation level AL of each elementary action on the basis of information from an internal-state manager (91) and external-stimulus recognition unit (80) and with reference to a data base, and an action selector (130) to select an elementary action whose activation level AL is highest as an action to be implemented. Each action is associated with a predetermined internal state and external stimulus. The activation level calculation unit (120) calculates an activation level AL of each action on the basis of a predicted satisfaction0level variation based on the level of an instinct for an action corresponding to an input internal state and a predicted internal-state variation predictable based on an input external stimulus.

  • Publication number: 20060144319
Abstract: Gelled colloidal crystals obtained by ultraviolet irradiation gelation means proposed so far in the art are inadequate in term of homogeneous gelation as far as their deep portions, and gelled colloidal crystals obtained by use of gelation means relying upon a light source in the visible light range in place of that ultraviolet irradiation has several problems such as difficulty with selection of polymerization initiators and generation of gas bubbles. The object of the invention is to provide a colloidal crystal gelled homogeneously to within, from which those problems are eliminated. To this end, a colloidal solution using an aqueous liquid as a disperse medium with a monomer or macromer added thereto and camphorquinone, riboflavin or their derivative contained therein as a polymerization initiator is irradiated with light having a wavelength component in the range of at least 400 nm to 500 nm for the purpose of gelation, thereby providing a solution to the aforesaid problems.

  • Patent number: 6966339
Abstract: A spool valve arrangement with a cylinder is fitted with a clearance fit in a cylinder bore in a housing of the spool valve arrangement. The housing has first pressure medium ports and the cylinder has second pressure medium ports. A socket is inserted through each first pressure medium port in the housing and each second pressure medium port in the cylinder. The socket has a small diameter part, which is fitted with a clearance fit in the second pressure medium port, and a large diameter part, which is engaged with a shoulder formed in the first pressure medium port. By screwing a conduit end in the first pressure medium port, the socket is held in the mounted position, thus providing a seal of the region of this port and also providing an anti-rotation effect on the cylinder relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050191195
Abstract: It is sought to provide a dual reciprocating bellows pump having two, i.e., left and right, bellows interlocked by interlock shafts to each other, which is free of wear powder or wear dust generated by the frictional movement of the interlock shafts and bearings relative to one another from pump feed fluid in pumping chambers, permits ready use of synthetic resin as pump element material, is excellent in function and cost and readily permits size reduction design. Paired interlock shafts coupled to end members 6 of the pair of, i.e., left and right, bellows, are disposed in paired working air chambers 8, and are movably inserted in through bores provided in a pump head. Between each interlock shaft and each through elastic seal members are disposed, thus sealing the left and right working air chambers 8 from each other. No particular bearing is used for the interlock shafts. Lip seals are desirably used as the elastic seal members.
