  • Publication number: 20060139732
Abstract: An electrophoretic display device uses a liquid-phase electrophoretic material not confined in a shell. An electrophoresis chamber with the electrophoretic material hermetically sealing therein is mounted in a substrate. Also, a display section, a data communication section, a driver section, and a power reception section are mounted on the substrate. The data communication section is communicable with an external device to receive data to be displayed in the display section. The driver section is provided for driving the display section. To supply power to various sections of the display device, the power reception section is provided for wirelessly being supplied with power from an external station. A panel is mated with the substrate to cover the data communication section, the driver section, and the power reception section while exposing a transparent cover plate of the display section.

  • Patent number: 6784876
Abstract: Y coil Y1 is mounted on the attachment panel 24 so that its long sides Y1f and Y1g follow the front surface 24n, and is bent at a first edge 24a1 onto an edge surface 24a, and is further bent at a second edge 24a onto a rear surface 24b. Even if the pen moves to near an edge portion of the writing surface, the signal generated by long sides Y1f, Y1g will have a little influence from a signal generated from the short side Y1d. When the X coordinate calculated in S1306 is judged to be a coordinate in the X axis edge (S1308:YES), then an X axis edge flag is set in S1310 and a correction coefficient K that corresponds to the distance of the pen from the edge of the Y coil is extracted in S1312 by referring to a correction table. When the Y coils are scanned in S1314, if the X axis edge flag is judged to be set (S1316:YES), then in S1318, all of the values detected for the Y coils in S1314 are multiplied by the correction coefficient K.

  • Patent number: 6778167
Abstract: When a voltage difference diff of a vertex (maximum value) of a standard Position Resolving Table (PRT) is Dps, the voltage difference diff of a vertex (maximum value) of a tilted PRT is Dp, an amount of shift of the vertex in a horizontal direction is &Dgr;S, and a half of a coil placement pitch is Ls/2, a ratio of Dps to Dp (Gain) is equal to Dps/Dp (Gain=Dps/Dp). A value showing a proportion of a displacement of the vertex of the titled PRT with respect to the vertex of the standard PRT and the range of Ls/2 (Slide) is equal to &Dgr;S/(Ls/2). Therefore, a positional error due to a tilt of a stylus or a change in a battery voltage can be corrected.

  • Patent number: 6756972
Abstract: A stroke data input unit, of each of input display boards, transmits to a display unit coordinate data for characters or graphics obtained by an input board unit, by attaching identification (ID) information of the input board unit to the coordinate data. A synchronization display controller of the display unit displays the characters or graphics based on the coordinate data received through a receiver, and the ID information of the input display boards, in respective areas of a display panel. When a user makes a stepping display request, the synchronization display controller reads out the data stored in the stroke data storage unit to estimate an input time for strokes of the characters/graphics. The characters/graphics estimated to be input at approximately the same time in the input display boards, may be displayed in the respective areas of the display panel at approximately the same time.

  • Patent number: 6744426
Abstract: A circuit mounted in the circuit board 69 of the pen 60 includes: a CR solution circuit 69e; an LC oscillation circuit 69c; and an FSK circuit 69d. The CR oscillation circuit 69e oscillates a signal with one of a plurality of different modulation frequencies that correspond to a plurality of different attributes, such as ink colors, pen tip thickness, and the like, of the pen. The LC oscillation circuit 69c is for oscillating a carrier wave for transmitting the signal oscillated by the CR oscillation circuit 69e. The FSK circuit 69d is for PSK modulating the oscillation frequency of the LC oscillation circuit 69c in accordance with the modulation frequency of the CR oscillation circuit 69e. The receiving side measures a time period at which the frequency of the carrier wave is maintained, thereby determining the period of the modulation frequency to know the pen attributes.

  • Publication number: 20040070490
Abstract: A communication system 1 includes interrogators 10, 11 and transponders 20, 21, 22. The interrogator 10 transmits a carrier wave, FC1, to the transponders 20, 21, 22, and the transponders 20, 21, 22 return respective reflected waves, f1, f2, and f3, to the interrogator 10. The transponders 20, 21, 22 modulate the received carrier waves FC1 using respective subcarrier waves that have been modulated using respective information signals, and return the thus modulated carrier waves as the reflected waves f1, f2, and f3 to the interrogator 10.

  • Patent number: 6639585
Abstract: When there exist two X coils that generate voltages of the same values during the X coil-scan operation (yes in S314), the CPU 56 discards the position coordinate table 58a that is already stored in the work area, and reloads a new position coordinate table 58a from the ROM 58, and then stores the position coordinate table 58a in association with the pen attribute data that is detected in S310. Then, the CPU 58 calculates a ratio r between the detected value d and the reference value g in S318, and multiplies, with the ratio r, each voltage difference value DIFF in the reloaded position coordinate table 58a in S320. As a result, the position coordinate table 58a is corrected in correspondence with the lowering of the output level of the alternating magnetic field of the pen 60. The CPU then calculates the X coordinate based on the corrected position coordinate table 58a.

  • Patent number: 6522634
Abstract: When a main device 1 detects an incoming message, the main device 1 transmits a call frame to auxiliary devices 2, 3 during a first time slot of a first cycle. In succession with this, the auxiliary-device 2 transmits a ready frame in a slot 2 to notify main devices of other systems that the communication channel is being used. Neither of the auxiliary devices 2, 3 respond in the third time slot. The same transmission and reception processes are performed in the second cycle. However, afterward in the third cycle, the auxiliary device 2 is brought into an off-hook condition and so transmits an off-hook frame during the third time slot of the third cycle. The main device 1 receives the off-hook frame and transmits a connect frame in the first time slot of the fourth cycle to the auxiliary device 2. In response, the auxiliary device 2 starts communication.

  • Patent number: 6467059
Abstract: When a parent device of a wireless transmission system receives a transmission request, then in S1, the parent device generates a data packet to be transmitted to the child device. In S2, the parent device confirms whether or not the parent device is presently receiving data. In S3, the parent device transmits the data packet to the child device. When the parent device receives no response packet (S4:NO), then after waiting for a retry waiting time to elapse (S5), the parent device retransmits the data packet in S6. A retry waiting time of the parent device is set longer than a retry waiting time of the child device by an amount equivalent to the time width of the data packet itself and twice a delay time generated during wireless transmission. Therefore, the child device retransmits its data packet with priority over the parent device. With this configuration, data can be stably transmitted and received even after data collides.
