  • Publication number: 20070102053
Abstract: A toilet fill valve device may function as a restrictor to reduce water flow, or as a regulator to cap water flow beneath a certain limit depending upon its orientation. If composed of a rigid material, the device functions as a restrictor to decrease water flow. If composed of a soft, flexible or compressible/expandable material, the device functions as a regulator as its walls expand to partially block fluid passageways when water pressure fills up a void within the device. The device includes a spiraled outer surface to provide a tortuous path for water to travel so as to reduce noise. The dual functionality of a regulator or restrictor may also be accomplished with the orientation of the device. Methods for manufacturing and using a toilet fill valve control device are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7188205
Abstract: A Compact Peripheral Component Interconnect (CPCI) system is provided that can map PCI Industrial Computer Manufactures Group (PICMG) states describing the state of a hot-swap CPCI card into Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) plug-in unit states. Specifically, the hardware/Operating System (OS) states for the CPCI card are specified in PICMG states in accordance with the PICMG hot-swap specification. The present system identifies or defines the meaning (e.g., the definition, identification, function, and/or status) of the states on the CPCI card. The system then maps these states into intermediate states. The intermediate states are then mapped into TMN plug-in unit states (e.g., OperationalState and/or AvailiableStatus). The TMN plug-in unit states corresponding to the CPCI card will then comprise the proper identification information for the CPCI card.

  • Publication number: 20060288399
Abstract: A vertical blanking interval (VBI) signal testing tool captures, isolates, and analyzes a VBI signal to determine the quality of the VBI signal or signal source. A digitized VBI signal may be received and analyzed according to industry standards. The VBI signal is examined using thresholds, threshold points, and other points as a way of discerning waveforms in the signal and their individual characteristics. Thereafter, deviations of the VBI signal from industry standards are logged or displayed for review. One feature of the tool records captured VBI data to a persistent storage medium, thereby allowing post-processing of the VBI signal at another time and/or another location. An exemplary analysis program can read the recorded VBI data from the persistent storage medium and perform tests to determine the quality of the VBI signal or signal source. VBI signal translations are also contemplated.

  • Patent number: 7113534
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for generating terahertz (THz) radiation comprising a short pulse laser (1) with mode coupling to which a pump beam (3) is supplied, and comprising a semiconductor component equipped with a resonator mirror (M4). This semiconductor component serves to derive the THz radiation based on incident laser pulses. The resonator mirror (M4), preferably a resonator end mirror, is provided with a semiconductor layer (8), which is partially transparent to the laser radiation of the short pulse laser (1), whose absorption edge is lower than the energy of the laser radiation of the short pulse laser (1) and on which the electrodes (9, 10) that can be connected to a bias voltage source are placed in order to generate and radiate the THz radiation in the electric field.

  • Publication number: 20060117602
Abstract: A shoe having an open interior, a plate positioned between the bottom of the shoe and a portion of the upper, and at least one opening extending from the bottom of the shoe into the midsole for providing air communication with the interior of the upper. In one embodiment, the opening has a height as measured from the bottom of the shoe along a vertical central axis that is greater than one-half the thickness of the rear sole. In another embodiment, the opening extends through the plate.

  • Patent number: 6993614
Abstract: The present invention relates to a management agent that can be ran on any operating system. More specifically, the management agent of the present invention is implemented with a set of application program interfaces (APIs) that allows the management agent to be independent of operating systems. The APIs makes the management agent portable across multiple operating systems. In an embodiment of the present invention, a Compact Peripheral Component Interconnect (CPCI) computer system includes a CPCI chassis, a circuit board located within the CPCI chassis, a first central processing unit (CPU) card coupled with the circuit board. The CPCI computer system also includes a second CPU card coupled with the circuit board, a first management agent located within the first CPU card, and a second management agent located within the second CPU card. The first and second CPU cards each respectively has a first operating system and a second operating system.

  • Patent number: 6908123
Abstract: A quick coupler formed of two identical sectors that snap lock together in a radially inward direction relative to a central axis of an annular hole passing through the coupler. The coupler is in the form of a nut or housing for surrounding the ends of two conduits that are to be coupled. The annular hole extends between opposite end faces and has structure near each end face. The structure at one end of the annular hole comprises a flange for retaining a first conduit when the sectors are snapped surroundingly snapped together on the end of the first conduit. The structure at the other end of the annular hole has circumferentially spaced lugs for cooperation with bosses on the second conduit in a bayonet quick coupling fashion. The combination of the coupler with first and second conduits having cooperating structure enabling the coupler to join the conduits in sealed fluid communication.

  • Publication number: 20050114738
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for monitoring the activity of an object to aid in debugging a problem with an application using the object. An operating system registry is altered to reference a proxy object when the application attempts to reference the object. The proxy object exposes an interface exposed by the object. Communications passing between the application and the object can be monitored in the proxy object. The proxy object can be monitored locally or remotely through a remote procedure channel.
