  • Publication number: 20120224597
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention describe systems and methods for delivering ultrashort laser pulses through an optical fiber system with higher order mode fiber output and without pre-chirping. In one embodiment of the present invention, an all-fiber delivery system comprises a mode-locked solid-state or fiber laser for generating laser pulses in the 0.2 ?m to 1.3 ?m wavelength range, a single mode fiber with normal dispersion, and a long-period-grating mode converter, and a higher order mode fiber with anomalous dispersion, wherein the all-fiber delivery system is free of bulk optics, and propagates laser pulses without pulse pre-chirping, and wherein higher order mode output beam from the all-fiber delivery system comprises pulses at less than about 200 femtoseconds.

  • Patent number: 8186367
Abstract: A foldable walker includes upstanding legs arranged in a generally square pattern, each of which is capped by a fixed joint member and each of which has a slider member slideably disposed on it. Two forward legs are interconnected by two rigid links arranged in a scissors arrangement with the uppermost end of each link pivotally connected to a fixed joint member and the lowermost end of each link pivotally connected to a slider. Each forward leg is interconnected to its associated rearward leg in the same way. Each pair of rigid links is interconnected to one another by a pivot pin. The linkage enables the width and the depth of the walker to be reduced to a very small space and telescoping legs reduce the height dimension of the walker. Handles are folded when the walker is stored and pivoted into their operable position when the walker is deployed.

  • Patent number: 8104104
Abstract: A dual flush button assembly includes a unitary button with a full flush surface and a partial flush surface. Pressing the partial flush surface moves the button linearly to active a partial flush. Pressing the full flush surface rotates the button to activate a full flush. An extension member beneath the button is coupled to a link of a dual flush valve. The extension member is moved farther when the full flush surface is engaged. The button is configured to pivot with respect to a housing when the full flush portion is engaged.

  • Publication number: 20110308115
Abstract: A footwear and footwear construction method that creates the footwear upper sleeve (shoe upper) using at least two overlapping, layered panels of fabric oriented 90 degrees with respect to each other. A lacing system creates a support cage for the foot, which is independent from the footwear upper. The lacing support cage can be asymmetrical in several respects to accommodate the physically asymmetrical shape of the foot. The lacing system includes fingers independent from the footwear upper. The fingers then end in lace eyelets.

  • Patent number: 7954169
Abstract: An athletic glove having an enhanced flexibility features for assisting in the opening and closing of the glove. A glove can include a front ply forming a palm and front portion and a back ply forming a back portion. The peripheries of the front and back plies attached together to form the glove. The glove includes a thumb stall, at least on finger stall, a hand receiving opening, a heel portion of the front ply, and a web portion positioned between the thumb stall and the finger stall. The glove further includes at least one predefined fold in the palm, such that the fold increases the flexibility of the glove and thereby facilitates the opening and closing of the glove. The glove can also comprise a notch formed in the back ply between the finger stall and the hand receiving opening to further increase the flexibility of the glove. Other embodiments are also claimed and described.
