  • Publication number: 20210212149
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed. In an example from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE), the UE keeps a dedicated Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR) configuration when the UE is in Radio Resource Control (RRC) idle state and a serving cell of the UE is a second cell, wherein the UE is configured with the dedicated PUR configuration in a first cell different than the second cell. • Publication number: 20210037530
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for selecting beam for preconfigured uplink resources in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a network node, a signaling to configure at least one Preconfigured Uplink Resource (PUR) associated with one or more beams from multiple beams. The UE selects a first beam from the multiple beams and performs a transmission of data in RRC_INACTIVE state using the at least one PUR via the first beam if the first beam fulfills at least one condition, wherein the at least one condition comprises that the first beam is associated with the at least one PUR and Reference Symbol Received Power (RSRP) of the first beam is better than a first threshold. The UE initiates a Random Access (RA) procedure and performs the transmission during the RA procedure if no beam of the multiple beams fulfills the at least one condition.

  • Publication number: 20210014899
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed. In an example from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE), the UE initiates a first Early Data Transmission (EDT) in RRC_INACTIVE state. Responsive to initiating the first EDT, the UE initiates a Random Access (RA) procedure in a cell configured with a normal uplink (NUL) carrier and a supplementary uplink (SUL) carrier. The UE selects the SUL carrier or the NUL carrier for performing the RA procedure based on at least one of whether there are one or more available Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) resources for EDT on the SUL carrier or whether there are one or more available PRACH resources for EDT on the NUL carrier.

  • Publication number: 20210007150
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses of handling a bandwidth part (BWP) inactivity timer during a Random Access procedure in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) starts a BWP timer for a serving cell operating in a paired spectrum. The UE initiates a contention-based Random Access (RA) procedure on the serving cell and stops the BWP timer. The UE starts the BWP timer upon successful completion of the RA procedure, wherein the UE considers the contention-based RA procedure successfully completed if a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) addressed to a Cell Network Temporary Identifier (C-RNTI) of the UE is received and the PDCCH contains an uplink grant for a new transmission.

  • Publication number: 20200383085
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed. In an example from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE), the UE receives, from a network node, a paging message indicative of Mobile-terminated Early Data Transmission (MT-EDT). Responsive to receiving the paging message, the UE determines a validity of a timing parameter associated with one or more Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR). The UE determines, based on the validity, whether to initiate a Random Access (RA) procedure for MT-EDT or to initiate a transmission using the one or more PURs.

  • Patent number: 10701655
Abstract: To perform successful transmission using Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR) in RRC_IDLE state, the UE (User Equipment) should maintain a valid timing adjustment (or timing alignment, TA). Currently the maximum of TA timer (excluding infinity value) is 10.24 seconds. In many or most cases, the TA timer will expire before the next PUR occasion occurs, resulting in the UE being unable to perform transmission using PUR. To solve such issue, the UE could apply different length for the TA timer in RRC_IDLE state. A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE). In one embodiment, the method includes the UE receiving a configuration of a first timer indicating a first length in a RRCConnectionRelease message, wherein the first timer is used to control validity of a first Timing Adjustment (TA) for a transmission using Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR) in RRC_IDLE state.
