  • Patent number: 10178975
Abstract: A detecting system, a mobile electronic apparatus and a method for detecting a physiological characteristic thereof are provided. The mobile electronic apparatus includes a sensor unit, a PPG photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, and a processing unit. The sensor unit has a first, second, and third sensing electrodes. The PPG sensor senses a PPG signal. The processing unit is coupled to the sensor unit and the PPG sensor. When the first and second sensing electrodes detect a voltage difference above a threshold, the PPG sensor is triggered to detect blood volume changes, and when the third sensing electrode is triggered to detect electrical activity of a heart between the first and third sensing electrodes, the PPG sensor is disabled by the processing unit.

  • Patent number: 10117595
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting cardiac arrhythmia and a recording medium using the method are provided. In the method, physiological signals of a human comprising a sequence of heart pulses are acquired, and an average of heartbeat intervals between pairs of consecutive heart pulses in the sequence of heart pulses is calculated. Each pair of consecutive heartbeat intervals is examined to identify premature ventricular contraction (PVC) candidates or atrial premature contraction (APC) candidates based on whether a difference between the pair of consecutive heartbeat intervals is larger than a product of a factor and the average of heartbeat intervals and whether an average of the pair of consecutive heartbeat intervals is within a predetermined range.

  • Publication number: 20070162780
Abstract: A method for controlling the operating frequency of a processor during video playback is disclosed. The method comprises extracting a pack of video data in which is embedded a plurality of data size information of a plurality of video data segments for playback. The plurality of data size information from the extracted pack of video data is read to determine the plurality of video data segment bitrates. The plurality of video segment bit rate is calculated from the plurality of data size information of the plurality of video data segments. The operating frequency of the processor is set according to the video data segment bitrate of each video data segment of the plurality of video data segments while playing the video data segment. As a result, the optimum processor operating frequency is utilized in order to provide the best quality of video playback while reducing the power consumption to a minimum.

  • Publication number: 20070162736
Abstract: An electronic device with accelerated boot process and a method for the same are proposed. When the host of the electronic device is in the off mode or standby mode, users can input a normal boot signal or a fast boot signal to activate the host. The boot signal is encoded by an encoder for producing a corresponding code. The host determines whether the input signal is the normal boot signal or the fast boot signal according to the received code. If the received code is the normal boot signal, the host performs a normal boot process. If the received code is the fast boot signal, an instant launcher directly launches application programs specified in the fast boot signal and blocks the start of unnecessary application programs. The boot process of the electronic device can be effectively accelerated, and users can define several boot modes themselves to meet different requirements.

  • Publication number: 20050267867
Abstract: An auto-display architecture for storage device and method thereof are disclosed. A computer system installed with a first operating system and a second operating system is initiated under the second operating system. When an end user provides a piece of information to a storage device, a detecting unit automatically compares the information format with data format recorded in an index table so as to find a display unit corresponding to the information format. The detecting unit is installed on the second operating system or the first operating system. If the display unit is installed in the first operating system, then through the conversion of an interface unit, the display unit is converted into executable format of the second operating system so as to display the data stored inside the storage device.

  • Publication number: 20050246561
Abstract: A computer power management architecture and a method thereof is disclosed. A first operating system and a second operating system with lower consumption of system resources are installed in a computer system. When a multimedia presentation unit installed in a first operating system or a second operating system runs programs, a power control unit installed in the multimedia presentation unit or the second operating system retrieves related data from a power management data unit according to the programs being executed by the multimedia presentation unit. Thus the hardware devices necessary for running the programs are switched on while unemployed hardware devices of the computer system are shut down by the power control unit. Moreover, the power control unit adjusts frequency of a central processing unit of the computer system according to the programs executed by the multimedia presentation unit so as to reduce the electricity consumption of the computer system.
