Abstract: A network device which communicates with peers using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) advertises to one or more peers a first Multi-Exit Discriminator (MED) when all sessions are in ‘established’ state, and a second MED when one or more sessions are in a non-‘established’ state. The second MED is higher than the first MED and higher than the MED advertised by the backup network device, causing peers to prefer the backup device. If the device is also configured for Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), when the device advertises the first MED, virtual routers are transitioned to ‘master’ state, and when the device advertises the second MED, virtual routers are transitioned to ‘backup’ state.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an authentication method and device using a single-use password generated from iris image information. The device comprises: a terminal and a server storing, in respective memories thereof, the iris image information for authentication; a camera attached to and installed on the device to capture the iris image information for authentication; the terminal, which generates the single-use password from the iris image information acquired through the camera, and transmits the single-use password to the server; and the server, which has a built-in algorithm for comparing and determining whether or not the single-use password transmitted from the terminal matches single-use password stored in the server.

Abstract: A method to assemble a disk drive having a spindle that includes a hub. At least one disk is placed on the hub. A clamp is fastened to the hub by a plurality of threaded fasteners. Each of the plurality of threaded fasteners is initially tightened. After initial tightening, an initial couple imbalance of the spindle is determined. After the initial couple imbalance is determined, a first selected threaded fastener of the plurality of threaded fasteners is selected and rotated by a first amount of rotation that is significantly different from a second amount of rotation of a second selected threaded fastener of the plurality of threaded fasteners. The selection and rotation of the first selected threaded fastener of the plurality of fasteners is determined based on the initial couple imbalance of the spindle.

The back-up device includes a physical interface. A logical interface X associated with the physical interface is monitored to determine if the fail-over condition has occurred. If it is determined that the fail-over condition has occurred on interface X, then the back-up device processes traffic for another logical interface Y, associated with the physical interface. Accordingly, logical interface Y may be unmonitored. According to one embodiment, if it is determined that the fail-over condition has occurred, the back-up device processes traffic for every logical interface associated with the physical interface.

Abstract: A robotic workstation includes apparatus for actuating one or more syringes. Each syringe has a cylinder and a plunger movable in the cylinder. A programmable robot has at least one syringe actuating device. The actuating device has a holder for holding and releasing a syringe cylinder and an actuator movable relative to the holder. A coupling couples the actuator to the plunger of the syringe such that, when the cylinder is held by the holder, movement of the actuator relative to the holder causes the plunger to move in the cylinder. A method of dispensing a material into a container includes robotically moving at least one syringe to a position for dispensing into a container. The plunger is robotically moved in the cylinder to dispense material from the syringe into the container. The workstation suitably includes a mixing apparatus for mixing materials in an array of containers at the workstation.

Abstract: Selective passive address resolution protocol (ARP) learning can provide a passive mechanism to synchronize link layer adjacency information among network elements. Selective passive ARP learning can be implemented by a modification to the ARP requests processing of the standby node, with a filter list containing a set of match rules for target network addresses. The implementation, thus, can be a configurable filter that enables software modules to specify a set of internet protocol (IP) addresses that the ARP input engine should monitor.

The enzyme used to oxidize the guar to the aldehyde guar is galactose oxidase, which may be combined with catalase or catalase and peroxidase. The aldehyde guar is useful as an effective gelling agent for oilfield servicing fluids such as hydraulic fracturing fluids and stimulation fluids.

A virtual switch is created to forward packets between the domains. The virtual switch is configured to operate substantially as if it were a physical layer-2 switch. The virtual switch and the virtual domains are connected together by virtual interfaces, where the virtual switch, the virtual domains, and the virtual interfaces are all created in software. Further, protocols such as ARP, IP, and/or IPv6 operate over the virtual interfaces in substantially the same way that they would over Ethernet. Also, each domain has a software driver that behaves like an Ethernet driver, and has a 48-bit Ethernet-like address that is used for the physical address.

Abstract: A stabilizer composition comprising an AB type polymer for use in increasing Open Time of aqueous coating compositions is disclosed. The stabilizers compositions are of utility in many aqueous compositions including paints, stains, varnishes, adhesives and inks. Of particular interest is the use of the stabilizer compositions for in increasing the Open Time of latex paints as well as alkyd emulsion paints.

Abstract: This invention relates to non-uniformly substituted (“blocky”) hydroxyethylcelluloses (HECs) and derivatives thereof that exhibit associative behavior in both neat solutions and in filled systems. The HECs and derivatives thereof exhibit unique and highly desirable rheology and are more efficient in thickening aqueous systems than prior art HEC products. These blocky HECs can be distinguished from prior art and commercial HEC products by having an unsubstituted anhydroglucose trimer ratio (U3R) greater than 0.21 and the hydroxethyl molar substitution greater than about 1.3 and less than about 5. This invention also relates to processes for making blocky HEC and uses thereof in functional systems.

Abstract: A conditioning composition is used in functional systems (personal care and household care compositions) that has a nonionic hydrophobically modified cellulose ether (HMCE) having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) with a lower limit of 400,000 and an upper limit of 2,000,000 and a hydrophobic substitution lower limit of 0.6 wt % and an upper limit amount which renders said cellulose ether insoluble in a 5 wt % solution of surfactant and less than 0.05% by weight soluble in water and wherein the cellulose ether provides conditioning benefit to the functional system substrate. This composition has at least one active functional system ingredient.

Abstract: An aqueous dispersion includes an associative thickener based on a hydrophobically modified poly(acetal- or ketal-polyether) (HM-PAPE) and at least one viscosity reducing agent selected from ethoxylated alcohols, ethoxylated acetyleneic diols, phosphate esters, dialkyl sulfosuccinates, and mixtures thereof. This aqueous dispersion improves the incorporation of the HM-PAPEs into aqueous based protective coatings. This dispersion also improves water-borne coating compositions that optionally contain latex.

Abstract: A method for using Patricia tree and longest prefix match for policy-based route look-up is described. Five route classes are determined based on a source address, a source address length, a destination address, a destination address length, and an ingress interface. Route classes are prioritized based on their content. A prefix for the first two route classes includes source and destination information. A prefix for the third and fourth route classes includes source information only. A prefix for the fifth route class includes destination information only. Four different route keys are constructed based on the route classes. The route keys are stored in a Patricia tree structure. For routing a data packet, a longest prefix match look-up is performed for a route key in descending priority order for the route classes.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing a neighbor cache table of a backup network device and with a neighbor cache table of a master network device is provided. The master network device may send an Add command or a Delete command to the backup network device whenever entry is added or deleted from the neighbor cache table of the master network device. Further, when a new network device joins the link to become master or backup, synchronize request and synchronize acknowledge commands may be employed to synchronize the new network device with the master network device. Additionally, when a network device becomes the master, it may send an update command to enable the neighbor switch devices to update their neighbor cache table, if any, to redirect traffic to the network device.
