  • Publication number: 20180295606
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for codebook sub-sampling. In various implementations, a wireless terminal receives a reference signal, determines, based on the reference signal, a first precoding index i2 for a first subband and a second precoding index i?2 for a second subband. The wireless terminal transmits a representation of i2 and a representation of 4 to a base station. In various implementations, i?2 belongs to the set Si2 which, in one implementation, equals {mod(i2?K1k,K), k=0, 1, . . . , K2}, where K1>1, and where K2>1 and K>1 are integers. According to an implementation, the wireless terminal receives the reference signal from a first base station and transmits the representations of i2 and i?2 to a second base station.

  • Patent number: 10090901
Abstract: A method and apparatus optimize antenna precoder selection with coupled antennas. A power metric corresponding to each precoder of a plurality of precoders can be received at a receiving device. Reference signals can be received. A transmission channel corresponding to each precoder can be estimated based on the reference signals. The estimate of the transmission channel can be scaled based on the power metric for each precoder. A channel quality metric for each precoder can be generated based on the scaled estimate of the transmission channel. An index of a precoder with the largest channel quality metric can be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20180152325
Abstract: A method and apparatus determine parameters and conditions for line of sight MIMO communication. Reference signals can be received. A channel matrix can be measured based on the reference signals. A least-squared error estimate of the measured channel matrix can be determined. A sum-squared error can be calculated based on the least-squared error estimate. The sum-squared error based on the least-squared error estimate can be compared to a threshold. The measured channel matrix can be ascertained to be classified as a line of sight multiple input multiple output channel based on comparing the sum-squared error based on the least-squared error estimate to the threshold.

Abstract: A method and apparatus determine parameters and conditions for line of sight MIMO communication. Reference signals can be received at a receiving device from a transmitting device. A channel matrix can be measured based on the reference signals. At least two of a first line of sight channel parameter, a second line of sight channel parameter, and a third line of sight channel parameter can be extracted based on the channel matrix. The first line of sight channel parameter can be based on transmitting device antenna element spacing. The second line of sight channel parameter can be based on a product of the transmitting device antenna element spacing and a receiving device antenna element spacing. The third line of sight channel parameter can be based on the receiving device antenna element spacing. The at least two line of sight channel parameters can be transmitted to the transmitting device.

  • Publication number: 20180126136
Abstract: A hand-held applicator for applying a fluid substance to a skin surface is disclosed. The applicator may be wedge-shaped to facilitate the application of the fluid substance to both broad and constricted portions of the user's skin by way of a broad base portion and a narrow end tip portion, respectively. The applicator may also comprise a means for limiting the flow of the fluid substance to the broad base portion of the wedge to facilitate application primarily from the narrow tip portion. The applicator may comprise a means for discharging the fluid substance from the applicator in the form of a user-actuated ratchet member or turning wheel mechanism interconnected to a press plate. The applicator may comprise a handle configured to store in a closed position and to rotate to an open position to enable the application of the fluid substance to hard to reach areas of a skin surface.

  • Publication number: 20180048367
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide equal energy codebooks for coupled antennas with transmission lines. A plurality of precoders can be received from a codebook in a transmitter having an antenna array. Each precoder of the plurality of precoders can be transformed to a transformed precoder such that the transmit power for each transformed precoder is equal to the transmit power for each of other transformed precoders of the plurality of precoders. The transmit power can be expressed as a quadratic form with respect to the corresponding precoder. The quadratic form can be based on a transmission line impedance of a transmission line between a signal source and the antenna array. A signal can be received from the signal source. A transformed precoder of the plurality of transformed precoders can be applied to the signal to generate a precoded signal for transmission over a physical channel. The precoded signal can be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20180011461
Abstract: A connected services system manages assets of building management systems of different organizations. An application server collects information from the assets, which is stored in various data stores associated with an account of the client organization, including an asset store, a group hierarchy store, a user account store, an asset ownership store, and a group ownership store. The group hierarchy store organizes the assets into tiered groups such as campuses, buildings, floors and wings. Users view, on graphical interfaces displayed on the displays of user devices, information from the asset store pertaining to assets that are owned by or shared with them according to the group ownership and asset ownership stores. The graphical interfaces include an asset panel for displaying detailed information about assets, a grouping selector, for filtering which assets for which information is displayed, and a status graphic for providing information concerning the status of the assets.

  • Publication number: 20180012482
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating inspection of fire alarm systems includes a graphical user interface rendered on a touchscreen display of a mobile computing device receiving selections of inspection results. The graphical user interface includes a testing pane, which indicates devices that are currently being tested, and a selection pane, which indicates devices yet to be tested. The devices indicated by the selection pane are filtered according to the inferred location of the inspector or the inferred order of test. Selection of devices indicated by the selection pane results in those devices being indicated by the testing pane. Results of inspections of the devices indicated by the testing pane are then selected by the touchscreen display detecting gestures (e.g. swipes toward the left or right) corresponding to different results. The results are sent to a connected services system and stored in a connected services database.
