  • Publication number: 20170144012
Abstract: A clamping device for securely engaging one or more objects through the application of force. The clamping device includes a primary member having opposed interior and exterior surfaces. The primary member has a generally cylindrical shape such that the interior surface defines a generally circular space about the center point of the primary member. The clamping device can receive an elongated member through the generally circular space circumscribed by the primary member. The primary member is adapted for clamping and releasing. The clamping device further incorporates a means for releasably engaging the elongated member. The means for releasably engaging the elongated member is attached to the primary member such that when the means for releasably engaging the elongated member is in the closed position, the elongated member is securely retained by the clamping device through the application of pressure.

  • Patent number: 9590284
Abstract: The present invention related to self-limiting filters, arrays of such filters, and methods thereof. In particular embodiments, the filters include a metal transition film (e.g., a VO2 film) capable of undergoing a phase transition that modifies the film's resistivity. Arrays of such filters could allow for band-selective interferer rejection, while permitting transmission of non-interferer signals.

  • Publication number: 20140360711
Abstract: An apparatus and a method to affect the heat transfer of a container is provided for rapidly heating or cooling the contents of a container through convective heat transfer. The apparatus includes a cylindrical sleeve which positively engages a distal end of a container, said sleeve including a can clip or bottle clip. The cylindrical sleeve is connected to a first end of a shaft having two ends, while the second end of the shaft may be connected to a rotating device. The rotating device is operated thus rotating the shaft, the cylindrical sleeve, and the container about the horizontal axis while the container is being exposed to the heating or cooling source. The cylindrical sleeve is capable of holding varying sizes of containers.

  • Patent number: 7738150
Abstract: Techniques for identifying encoded digital data in a multichannel hologram are described. A method can include steps of reading a first channel of a multichannel hologram, extracting first content data stored in the first channel, reading a second channel of the multichannel hologram, extracting second content data stored in the second channel, and utilizing the extracted content data. The extracted content data may be used for digital signature recognition. A system can include a multichannel hologram configured to store first, second, and third content data at first, second, and third channels respectively, at least one optical sensor configured to read the first, second, and third channels of the multichannel hologram and extract the first, second, and third content data, and a processor configured to measure an acceleration when the system is acted upon by a force.

  • Patent number: 7590779
Abstract: A system and method for enabling users and developers to store data on a number of different types of local and remote devices connected to a multimedia console or a gaming console. The range of available storage devices creates issues that are addressed to avoid apparent inconsistencies in storage performance (e.g. latency). A consistent method of reading and writing data is provided such that end users and developers do not have to be concerned with restrictions and limitations inherent to various devices.

  • Patent number: 7051813
Abstract: A method and system allows periodic access the wrong way through one or more one-way valves installed in a fluid flow stream. Fluid can flow through the bypassed valves or through the tools used to bypass the valves such as those of a reciprocating production pump. A stab tool cooperates with a valve to unseat a ball from a ball seat so as to bypass the ball and pass through the ball seat. The stab tool can be conveyed by tubing for discharge of fluid through ports in the stab tool. In another aspect of the invention, a rod installed within a pump between a reciprocating uphole valve and a downhole valve is arranged so that when the pump is closed, the stab tool at the rod's lower end passes through the downhole valve and a projection at the rod's upper end passed though the uphole valve the pump is partially closed. Fluid can be pumped in reverse through the pump fluidize debris.
