  • Patent number: 5343506
Abstract: A nuclear reactor installation includes a reactor pressure vessel and a reactor core in the reactor pressure vessel. A supporting and protective structure supporting the reactor pressure vessel and surrounding the reactor pressure vessel on the bottom and laterally, has a bottom region and a circumferential wall. A core catcher device for the reactor core has a collecting basin for a core melt being installed below the reactor pressure vessel. The collecting basin has a bottom wall and a jacket wall being respectively separated from the bottom region and the circumferential wall of the supporting and protective structure by a spacing gap. Cooling channels are disposed in the spacing gap at the bottom wall and the jacket wall for exterior cooling of the collecting basin with a cooling liquid. Turbulence bodies are disposed in a surface region of the bottom wall for generating a turbulent flow of the cooling liquid flowing from the inside to the outside over the bottom wall toward the jacket wall.

  • Patent number: 5212987
Abstract: An acoustic scanning microscope uses damping of a resonant acoustic oscillator and an acoustic near-field effect. In a preferred embodiment, a 32 KHz tuning fork serving as an acoustic oscillator with a 50 nm point achieves a vertical resolution of 5 nm and a horizontal resolution of 50 nm in the case of a minimum distance of approximately 50 nm. Frequency or amplitude variation of the resonant acoustic oscillator can be used. The acoustic near-field effect is dependent on the coupling medium, e.g., air, and the pressure, e.g., normal pressure.

  • Patent number: 5046717
Abstract: A device for collecting sheets includes a collection tray (13) with a bottom portion (21) which forms a stack support surface (19). The bottom portion is movably arranged and is adjustable in response to the weight of the sheets (25) collected on the support surface (19). The support surface (19) is upwardly inclined in the sheet transport direction. A deflectable hold-down element (41) which intersects the imaginary trajectory of the sheets and urges the deposited sheets (25) downwardly, is provided for cooperation with the rear area of the sheets (25) to be collected.

  • Patent number: 4988002
Abstract: A container for receiving stacks of sheets which are connected with each other in a corner by means of staples. The support surface (1) provided for supporting the stacks has a recess (31) in an area aligned with the stapled corners of the stacks. The recess allows the stapled corners to be deflected downwardly. The support surface (1) is uneven, its uneven shape being selected such that the stack to be received is supported at least along an elevation in such a way that the inherent stiffness of the stack is broken so that the stapled corners can be reliably deflected down into the recess (31).
