  • Publication number: 20110270217
Abstract: A skin retention device 10 for a medical jet-injection unit 20 comprises a contact face provided with adhesive 12 in the area surrounding and close to the injection opening(s) 11 of the nozzle 21 which ensures god contact between the nozzle 21 and the skin 30 of a subject in the area chosen for an injection. Consequently the injection force can be lowered dramatically. In case of two-stage jet-injections, the initial injection force can be lowered because the skin retention close to the injection point significantly reduces the energy consuming elastic expansion of the skin 30 in the injection area, and the second injection force can be lowered because of the high degree of fixed positioning of the injection opening of the nozzle 21 relative to the injection channel in the skin 30 made during the initial injection stage. Thus a high degree of injection safety is achieved, minimizing the risk of whet shots, while skin lift and lower injection force decreases the risk of damage of the underlying tissue.

  • Publication number: 20090099510
Abstract: A sealing membrane 20 on a nozzle 10 for a jet injection device is adapted to seal off the nozzle orifice 12 by having a sealing rim 22 surrounding the nozzle orifice 12, which ensures a distinct closure of the nozzle orifice 12 to protect the nozzle geometry against damage and dirt and to protect the drug 30 contained in the cartridge 10 against contamination. The sealing rim 22 can narrowly enclose the nozzle orifice 12, or in case an adhesive 14 is applied to the nozzle face to ensure skin retention during injection, the sealing rim 22 can run in the middle of the adhesive covered area or entirely outside the adhesive covered area to protect the adhesive as well. A third sealing member 23 can also be provided to give a third distinct closure assurance in case the primary and secondary sealing membrane 20 is damaged. The third sealing member 23 can be one or more plug(s) adapted to press fit inside the nozzle orifice.

  • Patent number: 6755810
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transfer device for transferring medicament from a medicament container to a syringe with a needle. The transfer device is arranged for transferring accurate dosages of insulin, growth hormone or other medicaments. The accuracy is ensured by the device comprising means for mounting a syringe to the device, the needle piercing a sealing of the device. Opposite the sealing a piston is arranged, said piston being non-releasable engaged with the piston driver during transfer of the medicament. Thereby the piston is not erroneously drawn from the piston driver, which would otherwise lead to incorrect dosing. Furthermore, the device comprises dosing means including the piston driver.

  • Publication number: 20040039255
Abstract: This invention relates to an system for self treatment. The system consists of several portable modules where one of the modules is designated as a master module. The master module controls, supervises and monitors all the mutual information and data exchange between itself and the rest of the modules. The modules can e.g. consist of a BGM, a doser and a storage container. The modules may be able to generate and store data which is transmitted to the master module if it is within range. If the master module is not within range, the data is kept locally in the module until the master module is available. The master module can send the data to an external unit like a computer or database for further processing. A physician or an expert care-team can access the data in the database and give guidance to the patient on the basis of these processed data. This processing could also be done automatically by utilization of an expert system.
