  • Publication number: 20030007826
Abstract: A method of treating or preventing tinea pedis, commonly known as Athlete's Foot, includes applying a polymerizable monomer adhesive composition to an area of skin afflicted with or susceptible to tinea pedis, optionally with at least one of an additional anti-fungal agent or a foot care additive, and allowing the polymerizable monomer composition to polymerize to form a polymer film over the area of skin.

  • Publication number: 20020185396
Abstract: A single-use applicator assembly for dispensing and applying a polymerizable monomeric adhesive material includes: a base portion having at least one sealed compartment; a polymerizable monomeric adhesive material contained in the compartment; an applicator at least partially disposed in the compartment such that a tip of the applicator is proximate the adhesive material. The at least one sealed compartment may comprise first and second sealed compartments that are separated with the polymerizable monomeric adhesive material contained in the first compartment and the applicator at least partially disposed in the second compartment. Alternatively, the first and second compartments may be open to each other. In such case, the applicator assembly may further comprise a plunger that defines the second compartment and that is movable into the first compartment to displace the adhesive material into the second compartment. A kit can include multiple applicator assemblies that are separate or frangibly connected.

  • Patent number: 6488944
Abstract: An adhesive composition that contains cyanoacrylate monomers and cyclic or alkyl- or phenyl-terminated linear polydimethylsiloxane is particularly useful in applications requiring flexibility and elasticity. A method of removing, reducing or preventing scar tissue including applying an adhesive composition that contains cyanoacrylate monomer and cyclic or alkyl- or phenyl-terminated linear polydimethylsiloxane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 2000
Date of Patent: December 3, 2002
    Assignee: Closure Medical Corporation
    Inventor: Upvan Narang
  • Patent number: 6455064
Abstract: A composition comprising a polymerizable adhesive monomer is applied over a biologically active initiator or accelerator for polymerization of the monomer. The biologically active initiator or accelerator is a medicament that provides a desired medical or therapeutic activity as well as enhancing polymerization of the adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20020119184
Abstract: A sterile or non-sterile flavored monomeric adhesive composition includes a flavoring additive and a monomer. The composition can be applied, for example, to skin or the inside of the mouth. A method of making a sterile, flavored adhesive composition includes placing a mixture of a polymerizable adhesive monomer and a flavoring additive in a container, sealing the container, and sterilizing the mixture and the container. The flavored adhesive composition is particularly useful as a medical adhesive and can include 1,1-disubstituted ethylene monomers, such as &agr;-cyanoacrylates.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 6323042
Abstract: A displacement-type flow immunoassay is performed using a microcapillary passage. The inner wall of the microcapillary passage has immobilized thereon antibodies to the antigen of interest. Labeled antigen is immunologically bound to the immobilized antibodies. Sample antigen passing through the column displaces the labeled antigen. Downstream, the displaced labeled antigen is detected. The microcapillary format of the present invention enhances the sensitivity of the immunoassay over the sensitivity of displacement-type flow immunoassays performed in a column at similar flow rates.

  • Patent number: 6020209
Abstract: A displacement-type flow immunoassay is performed using a microcapillary sage.
