Abstract: Method for producing disposable diaper-pants having openable and resealable side panels. Absorption bodies are applied on a continuous web of inner or outer coversheet material so that front portions and rear portions of adjacent diaper-pants blanks in a web are directed toward each other. A continuous web of outer or inner coversheet material is applied to and secured to the web with absorption bodies. Separate side panels connected to each other by a detachable and resealable connection are secured to side portions of the adjacent front portions or rear portions of the diaper pants. Each diaper-pants blank with side panels is cut from the web and folded about a transverse axis in the crotch with the front and rear edges lying against each other. The side panels of each blank are folded toward and secured to side portions of the rear or front portion which have no side panel.

Abstract: Absorbent article such as a diaper, pant diaper, incontinence guard, sanitary napkin, wound dressing or the like comprising a layer of continuous fibers (9), so called tow, which is bonded in points, spots or lines in a bonding pattern (10), but where the fibers otherwise are substantially unbonded to each other. The layer can either be used as a liquid acquisition layer (5) in the article under the topsheet (2), as a topsheet (12) or as a combined topsheet and liquid acquisition layer (22).

Abstract: A process for manufacturing an absorbent article includes continuously feeding a first web (1) along a travelling path, said first web (1) comprising a first and a second opposing strip (9, 10) extending in the longitudinal direction and a first panel portion (11) located therebetween, continuously feeding a second web (2) along a travelling path, said second web (2) comprising a third and a fourth opposing strip (25, 26) and a second panel portion (20) located therebetween, cutting the first panel portion (11) into a number of first panels (14, 15), cutting the second panel portion (20) into a number of second panels (25, 26), forming a joint web (3) by placing the second web (2) over the first web (1), cutting the joint web (3) along attachment lines thereby forming the absorbent articles (4).

Abstract: Absorbent article with a stiffening element to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the article during its use. The stiffening area is planar before use and comprises a first stiffening part area in the front portion. The first stiffening part area in the front portion has a width which, at least at some point in the longitudinal direction of the article, exceeds the distance between the muscle tendons of the wearer on both sides of the crotch of the wearer in the groin. The article comprises an elongate absorbent crotch area to be fitted in the crotch of the wearer over the genitals of the latter. The absorbent crotch area is attached to the first part area and held in place by the latter so as to avoid the absorbent crotch area sliding backwards and out of the intended position over the genitals of the wearer when the wearer moves.

Abstract: Absorbent article with a stiffening element in a planar state before use to contribute to the three-dimensional shape during use of the article. The stiffening element has a first cutout arranged to enable pressing-together of the stiffening element in the lateral direction at a transition between the front and crotch portions. The shapes of the stiffening element and first cutout are adapted so that the stiffening element, after pressing-together and positioning, has a transitional width adapted to the distance between the muscle tendons on both sides of the crotch in the groin of about 15-45 mm. The stiffening element is arranged so that the side edges in the front portion of the article, in the pressed-together state, diverge in the direction from the crotch portion at least part of the way in over the front portion, forming an acute angle with a line in the longitudinal direction of the article.

Abstract: Absorbent article, such as a sanitary towel, with a stiffening element which is intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the article during its use. The stiffening element is in a plane state before use of the article. The stiffening element has in the rear portion an elongate through-hole which extends in the longitudinal direction of the article and along the centre line of the article, as a result of which the article is during use provided, by virtue of lateral forces arising in the rear portion of the article, with a fold along the longitudinal direction of the article along the hole. The fold extends into the cleft between the buttocks of the wearer during use of the article and in this way stabilizes the article in position on the wearer.

Abstract: An absorbent product has a fluid permeable top sheet, a fluid impermeable backing sheet, an absorbent core, which absorbent core has an upper side, a bottom side, two longitudinally running sides and two laterally running sides, whereby the product further has two longitudinally running barrier flaps at the longitudinally running sides of the absorbent core and whereby the top sheet covers the upper side of the absorbent core. The top sheet, in addition to the upper side of the absorbent core, also covers at least the longitudinally running sides of the absorbent core and a part of the bottom side of the absorbent core. The top sheet has at least one connection to the backing sheet at the bottom side of the absorbent core, and the barrier flaps are connected to the backing sheet at the longitudinally running sides of the absorbent core.

Abstract: A method of making a multi ply tissue paper web. The tissue web material is wound a plurality of revolutions in a helical manner to form a tube-like shape or alternatively the shape of a flattened tube, in which the edges of the web material of adjacent revolutions are partly overlapping, located substantially edge to edge or are located a small distance apart. The thus formed tube is then flattened to form a double- or multiply web. Alternatively web material is pulled out in the form of a helically twisted tube from the centre of a centre-fed roll of web material, and subsequently flattening the tube.

Abstract: A holder for a paper roll with axial dispensing of the paper from the roll, includes a housing which has an end wall provided with a dispensing opening and tear elements extending around the periphery of the opening. The holder includes members for rotating the web of paper being drawn from a paper roll, which is disposed in the housing, relative to the paper roll in dependence of the length of paper web being drawn out of the dispensing opening, said members being disposed within the housing.

Abstract: The invention relates to an absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, an incontinence guard, or a panty-liner, which article has a substantially elongated shape with a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction and also exhibits two side edges (9, 10), a front edge (11) and a rear edge (12), a front portion (6) and a rear portion (7), and a crotch portion (8) situated between the front portion (6) and the rear portion (7), which article furthermore exhibits a liquid-impervious surface (2) and a liquid-impervious surface (3). At least within the front portion (6) and the crotch portion (8), the article exhibits high bending stiffness against bending along transversely extending bending lines, whereby the front portion (6) and the crotch portion (8) of the article exhibit high shape permanence during use of the article.

Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-ply tissue product having several plies (2, 3, 4, 5), said multi-ply configuration is made by at least one folding (a; b; c) of at least one ply sheet (P) of tissue material in order to reduce the possibilities of delamination and to make the product flexible simultaneously.

Abstract: An absorbent article having a front part (13; 13′), a rear part (14; 14′) and a crotch part (15; 15′) which lies therebetween. The article includes an absorbent body (1; 1′; 25) which is enclosed between an outer, liquid-impermeable casing sheet (7; 7′; 26) and an inner, liquid-permeable casing sheet (8; 8′; 27), this latter sheet lying proximal to a wearer's body in use. The article further includes on opposite sides of a longitudinal symmetry axis of the article flexible, longitudinally extending flaps (9, 10′ 9′, 10′; 28, 29), each of which is connected to the inner casing sheet along a longitudinal edge and which extends from the connected longitudinal edge in toward a longitudinal symmetry axis of the article. The flaps (9, 10; 9′, 10′; 28, 29) are joined together in the crotch part (15; 15′) of the article.

Abstract: The invention relates to a blank intended to constitute a shaped element in an absorbent product, such as a sanitary towel, an incontinence pad or a panty liner, which blank is made from a rigid material and initially has a plane and essentially elongate shape with a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction, two short sides and two long sides, two end portions and a central portion, one end portion being wider than the central portion and having a width which increases towards the short side of the blank and the other end portion having a cutout. The invention also relates to a shaped element produced from the blank, an absorbent product comprising such a shaped element, and also methods of producing a shaped element and an absorbent product comprising the shaped element.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an absorbent article in the form of a pants diaper or a sanitary panty starts from a flat blank which includes an elongated absorbent body enclosed between two casing sheets which at opposing front and rear end parts of the absorbent body have side parts which extend laterally beyond the body on the opposite sides thereof. The method includes the step of folding the blank about a transverse axis so that the end edges of the side parts lie edge-to-edge. The front and rear side parts of the blank which oppose one another in the folded state of the blank are joined together by a releasable and refastenable fastener. A pants diaper can be manufactured in accordance with this method.

Abstract: In a method and device for applying a thread to a moving substrate, a thread is continuously dispensed to a pick-up point adjacent to the point of contact of two rotating wheels (2, 3) that are inclined towards each other. The peripheries of the wheels have fingers (7) which hook the thread and move it to one side or the other as the wheels rotate, and then deposit the thread extended between the fingers 180° from the pick-up point. Long spaces between the fingers (7) on one wheel or the other make it possible to lay the thread longitudinally (8b) or in a long diagonal line instead of merely in a lateral zigzag pattern. The method and device may be used to make an absorbent article, such as a diaper.

Abstract: An absorbent article comprising a liquid-permeable casing sheet (1), a liquid-impermeable casing sheet (2) and an absorbent body (3) enclosed between the two casing sheets. The absorbent body (3) includes a liquid acquisition space (24) which consists of at least one cavity or one region of lower density than the density of an acquisition layer (19) located in said absorbent body (3) adjacent the space (24) and essentially in the same plane thereas. The acquisition layer (19) includes a material which when wetted increases in size in the thickness direction of the article (the z-direction). The article is mainly characterized in that the material in the acquisition layer (19) exhibits relatively low expansion in the plane of the article (the xy-direction) when wetted, such that the volume of the liquid-acquisition space (24) will increase by at least 100%, preferably by at least 200%, more preferably by at least 400% and most preferably by 900% when wetted.

Abstract: The invention relates to an absorbent article intended for female users, such as a sanitary napkin, or an incontinence guard, having such a shape and size that it may be substantially accommodated in the crotch region of a pair of panties and having a longitudinal direction, a transverse direction and a thickness direction. The article exhibits a liquid-pervious cover layer and a liquid-impervious cover layer and further an absorbent core consisting of at least one absorbent body, arranged between the two surfaces, and wherein a hump is arranged at the liquid-pervious cover layer of the article. The invention is characterized in that the hump is substantially shape permanent in the transverse direction of the article, both in a wet and in a dry state, and to such an extent that the hump (16) is not deformed in the transverse direction, either temporarily or permanently, by the forces acting on the hump during use of the article.

Abstract: The invention relates to a container for a stack of interfolded tissue sheets. The container has a generally planar bottom wall and a top wall and side walls connecting the bottom wall with the top wall. An opening is provided in the top wall for the removal of the tissue-sheets from the container, which opening is wider than the width of the tissue-sheets. The stack of interfolded tissue-sheets is placed in the container with a lowermost tissue-sheet placed on the bottom wall and an uppermost tissue-sheet placed near or in contact with the top wall and adjacent to the opening in the top wall. The opening is provided with a positioning feature having elongated, overlapping projections extending from opposite sides of the opening in order to allow the uppermost tissue-sheet to be dispensed, holding it substantially flat. The invention also relates to a method for producing the positioning feature.

Abstract: A disposable, absorbent pants-type diaper includes a front-part (1), a back-part (2), a crotch-part (3) between the front and back parts (1, 2), at least two side-closure parts (12, 13) which mutually join parts of the side-edges (4, 5) of respective front and back parts, so that the pants will present a waist opening (9) and two leg openings (10, 11). The diaper pants further include an elongated absorbent pad (14), an inner casing layer (15), and an outer casing layer (16). At least one of the respective front and back parts (1, 2) has at least one elastically stretchable region (29, 30). The crotch-part (3) is essentially non-stretchable in relation to the stretchable region (29, 30). At least one of respective end-parts (17, 18) of the absorbent pad (14) is disposed within one of the elastically stretchable regions (29, 30), while the center-part (19) of the absorbent pad is disposed within the relatively non-stretchable crotch-part (3) of the pants.
