Patent number: 7324320Abstract: A device for magnetizing a magnet system preferably having several pulse-generator circuits which are mutually arranged so that their magnetic fields superimpose in a cumulative manner. Each pulse-generator circuit includes a capacitor element, a magnetization coil electrically connected to the capacitor element and a switch element by way of which actuation the magnetization coil can be impinged with a current pulse of a limited pulse duration arising by the discharge of the capacitor element, and thus the build-up of a magnetic field may be triggered. The pulse-generator circuit is built up so that the pulse duration of the current pulse is limited to a value between 10 ?s and 500 ?s. With such short pulse durations, undesirable heating of the magnetization coil is short so that the device may be applied in automatic production installations with cycle times of below 1 s.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2004Date of Patent: January 29, 2008Assignee: Albert MaurerInventors: Albert Maurer, Urs Meyer, Stefan Haas, Olivier Mueller

Publication number: 20070133142Abstract: For demagnetizing larger parts and charges, from about 1 kg mass, the wattless power of the demagnetization coil is so high that it is compensated with a capacitor. The capacitor for this is connected in series with the coil, and a pulse-width-modulated inverter of the usual construction type is applied for the supply. The demagnetization may be effected by impulse or by running through a magnetic field of a constant strength. The inverter in the first case produces a current impulse of a certain frequency, shape and duration. In the second case, it produces a certain constant current at a certain frequency. In order with a given exit voltage of the inverter to achieve the highest possible current in the coil, the produced frequency must correspond to the resonant frequency of the oscillation circuit. In order to ascertain the resonant frequency of the charged coil, this may be measured by way of a separate measurement coil with a small measurement current.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventor: Urs Meyer

Patent number: 7196894Abstract: The method according to the invention for demagnetization is effected in two separate steps. Firstly magnetically hard locations, such as weld seams, pressure locations etc., of an object to be demagnetized is pre-treated locally with high fields by way of choke coils in an alternating field. These magnetically hard locations are at least partly demagnetized by way of this. Subsequently the complete demagnetization is effected in a decisive second step. The object remains for a certain time in an alternating field. Now the alternating field is stepped down in that the current in a series oscillation circuit is stepped down in a current-controlled manner with two coils.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2003Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Inventors: Albert Maurer, Urs Meyer

Publication number: 20040115390Abstract: The invention relates to fall arrester for damping a falling body, which substantially comprises a fall arrester element (3) that is linked with connecting elements (1, 2) via load suspension means (1′, 2′). The fall arrester element (3) consists of at least one fiber bundle of a thermoplastic polymer with a stress-elongation behavior that is characterized by a wide elongation range (&egr;1, &egr;2) in which a substantially continuous force transduction takes place. In a load situation, the fall arrester element (3) is subject to an elongation (&Dgr;L) from the instant when the load builds up to when the falling body comes to a stop. The decisive parameters for designing the fall arrester element (3) are the material used, the elongation behavior thereof and the length and number of fibers from which the material is made. The invention further relates to the use of said fall arrester in safety belts in vehicles, planes, high-speed trains, buses, motor bikes and in mountaineering.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2004Publication date: June 17, 2004Inventors: Ruedi Hess, Reto Meier, Urs Meyer

Publication number: 20030183070Abstract: A method and a device (20) are described for compensating firing errors of a gun having a weapon barrel (10.2). Firing errors, which are caused by static gun geometry errors, which influence the position of the weapon barrel (10.2) during aiming of the weapon barrel (10.2) at aiming values, are compensated. For this purpose, the weapon barrel (10.2) is brought into measurement positions in steps by rotation around an axis. Using suitable devices of a measurement facility, an intended value, which describes the intended position of the weapon barrel (10.2), and an actual value, which describes the actual position of the weapon barrel (10.2), are detected at each measurement position. A difference between the actual value and the intended value, defined as an error value, is then calculated. Correction values are established from multiple error values of the measurement positions and the correction values are taken into consideration during later aiming of the weapon barrel (10.2).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2003Publication date: October 2, 2003Applicant: Oerlikon Contraves AGInventors: Gabriel Schneider, Michael Gerber, Urs Meyer

Patent number: 6467512Abstract: A method for monitoring the cycle of the weft insertion into a weaving machine. The weft yarn passes a yarn brake and a yarn force sensor and the force acting on the weft yarn is measured in a known fashion and the reaction force of the yarn is converted by a pressure sensitive element into an electrical signal. The electrical signal outputted by the yarn force sensor is electronically amplified in an evaluation unit, is evaluated and is transmitted to an indicator informing the operator of the development of the weft insertion and of disturbances and corrections. For this purpose, the evaluation unit is connected via a data line with a machine control unit. Evaluation unit is supplied with time signals from the machine control unit associated with further machine functions participating at the weft insertion, e.g. the momentary angular position of the main shaft of the machine. The machine control unit receives monitoring signals of the yarn force evaluation via the data line, e.g.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2002Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Iropa AGInventors: Urs Meyer, Ivan Castelli, Leonardo Fogu

Publication number: 20010049860Abstract: Textile fibers, in particular cotton fibers, in a treatment installation by way of a transport system are supplied after one another to various treatment stations. With this the fibers are at least cleaned and homogenized. With a sensor system (10) continuously at least two different physical variables (22) are detected at the fibers. From the detected variables certain fiber properties are deduced and actual values are formed which in an evaluation means (8, 9) are compared to a nominal value (24) for each fiber property. With the presence of deviations from a nominal value the operating condition at least of one treatment station and/or of the transport system is changed. With this the whole treatment process is to be optimized.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2001Publication date: December 13, 2001Inventors: Armin Jossi, Urs Meyer

Patent number: 6039282Abstract: In order to improve the traveling and sliding properties of a yarn during its further processing, in particular for knitting, it is waxed during rewinding in cheese winding machines by passing it along a paraffin body. When the paraffin body is used up, the unwaxed yarn can cause yarn breaks or even needle breakages, which leads to production errors or lost production. At the winding stations, the drive of the friction drum is switched on and off at intervals to cause alternating acceleration phases with slippage between the friction drum and the bobbin and intervening slippage- free run-out phases to prevent pattern windings. The slippage is monitored over the course of the winding operation. If the slippage decreases in successive acceleration phases and remains at a low level, while the drive output of the friction drum remains unchanged, this is interpreted to indicate an outage of the paraffin application.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: W. Schlafhorst AG & Co.Inventors: Ferdinand-Josef Hermanns, Urs Meyer
