  • Patent number: 5931376
Abstract: The description relates to a device for air conditioning control in an air-conditioned room containing textile machines, especially circular spinning and spooling machines, with an air feed and an air discharge duct connecting the air-conditioned room to the air conditioning unit. A first set of sensors for measuring the temperature and relative humidity of the air in the room is connected for the control purposes to a first regulating circuit, and a second set of sensors for measuring the temperature and relative humidity of the feed air is connected for control purposes to a second regulating circuit. The first and second regulating circuits are connected in cascade, the first regulating circuit supplying a reference value to the second regulating circuit which controls the adjusting components of the air conditioning unit.

  • Patent number: 5873392
Abstract: A process for automated monitoring of faults occurring in textile webs. At least one marking is worked into the web under manufacture. The marking permits incremental measurement of the textile web and facilitates the determination of particular positions thereon. Web faults and other events are detected during manufacture and their positions stored electronically. Detected faults can then be efficiently located and examined using the electronically stored location coordinates and the marking. Since the marking is worked into the web, the location of the fault can be efficiently determined even at later stages in the manufacturing process.

  • Patent number: 5826815
Abstract: A yarn package (both conical and cylindrical) is produced at a winding station of a textile winding machine by alternately: accelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package with slippage between the friction roller and the entire surface of the yarn package; and decelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package without slippage between the friction roller and at least part of the surface of the yarn package, e.g., the neutral zone of a conical package. The periods (and thus the frequencies and angular velocities) of the friction roller and the yarn package are detected by sensors which communicate the detected values to a control and evaluation device. Based on the detected values during at least one phase of deceleration, the control and evaluation device estimates the yarn package radius during an acceleration phase.

  • Patent number: 5608319
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring magnetic fields with a magnetically sensitive probe which is introduced into a magnetic field and which transmits a measuring signal to a measuring device for evaluation. After activating the measuring device, a zero point is measured and automatically set and a correction value is calculated and stored. The probe is introduced into the magnetic field and the polarity of the magnetic field automatically determined. A peak value of a plurality of measured values is automatically stored and the measurement range of the device is automatically adjusted to the range of the magnetic field. Thereafter, the measured values are read out, the probe is removed from the magnetic field and the device is switched off.

  • Patent number: 5517404
Abstract: A spinning mill with a master process control computer for at least one group of machines, whereby each machine of the group is provided with its own machine control unit which controls the actuators of the machine (including any auxiliary aggregates allocated to the machine). At least one network is provided for bidirectional communication between the computer and each machine of the group. During the operation of the plant, master control instructions from the process control computer are supplied via the network to the machine control units. Each machine control unit forwards the control instructions to the actuators controlled by the machine control unit, whereby the control instructions, if required, are converted by the machine control unit into control signals which are suitable for the actuators.

  • Patent number: 5509179
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a fiber processing plant including a series of processing stages in order to supply fibrous material as a product with predetermined qualities, whereby the qualities of the product can be influenced by suitable, selectively adjustable treatment of fibrous material during its passage through the plant and whereby in at least one of the intermediate stages of the plant an ascertainable quality of the product of this stage is determined. In this intermediate stage a signal is obtained which is equivalent to the ascertainable quality and which is used for controlling the previous stages.

  • Patent number: 5277000
Abstract: In order to grind clothing of a carding element, such as a cylinder of a textile machine, such as a card, during operation of the cylinder, a slide is moved back-and-forth across the clothing. The slide is reciprocated back-and-forth by an inner run of a drive belt guided in guides such that the drive belt together with a grinding element, like a grinding stone, closes a housing totally covering the arrangement. As a result, neither grinding dust nor fibers can enter the housing. Each time the grinding stone moves past a grinding member, such as a diamond rake or diamond roller this grinding stone is re-ground, so that the clothing is maintained sharpened by the continuous grinding operation and the grinding stone itself is cleaned or re-ground by the grinding member. Also, structure detects the degree of wear of the grinding element so that upon reaching a predetermined value such grinding element can be replaced.

  • Patent number: 5144130
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for the adjustment of an optical row of sensors which, for guiding a driverless vehicle along an optical guideway, is secured at the vehicle transversly with respect to the vehicle travel direction. Known systems attempt to accomplish a compensation of component tolerances by carrying out an adjustment between the measurement signals of the sensors. However, this leads to inaccurate measurement values. A post-adjustment of a contrast value is not contemplated with these systems. The invention eliminates these inaccuracies and affords an exact post-adjustment. On the one hand, this is attained in that the sensors are adjusted by a calibration surface and the adjustment values for controlling the sensors are stored in an adjustment table. On the other hand, it is proposed to perform the adjustment operation at the site of use of the equipment and to provide an adaptive post-adjustment of the thus set adjustment table.

  • Patent number: 5138558
Abstract: A method of conveying textile material in cans from a machine delivering textile material to a machine receiving textile material uses a self-propelled conveying carriage guided on a guide track and controlled by a central control unit. Known systems using a self-propelled conveying carriage for automatically transferring cans from one machine to another generally do not permit fully automatic operation without manual intervention. In other words, some manual intervention is required at short intervals of time for such systems. The invention provides in the path of an automatic conveying system a control station in which a central control unit is incorporated and which performs automatic operations, including transmission of control instructions to the carriage, checking can contents and conditions, exchanging defective cans, and exchanging and checking a power supply carried on board the conveying carriage.

  • Patent number: 5091687
Abstract: The charging station includes a circular magazine which is pivotable about a central axis. Above or beneath the circular magazine, which forms a first disk-shaped partial region of the charging station, there is arranged a second partial region, and specifically a device carrier or support. The latter carries the charging and control devices. In the circular magazine there are a plurality of deposit positions or places for energy storage devices where discharged energy storage devices of transport vehicles are again recharged. A transport carriage with gripper devices serves to displace the energy storage devices from the transport vehicle into the circular magazine and is arranged at the region between the central axis and the periphery of the circular magazine. The exchange and charging apparatus is very compact and space-saving in construction and affords the direct and automatic transfer of energy storage devices between transport vehicles and the charging station.

  • Patent number: 5066854
Abstract: There are provided a method of and an apparatus for guiding a self-steering or driverless vehicle along an optical guideway. The hitherto known systems, which relate to optical scanning of an optical guideway by means of a light beam and which only transmit the signals "light" and "dark" with respect to detection of the optical guideway, are liable to disturbances and result in a too coarse or non-sensitive control. Therefore, it is suggested to scan the optical guideway by means of light pulses emitted in a predetermined frequency by sensors, whereby the intensity of the reflected light generates by means of an electronic evaluation unit a signal for controlling a steering or guiding mechanism. It is suggested to scan the optical guideway as an analog value by means of individual sensors arranged in a row and further process the determined values as digital values.
