  • Patent number: 6369363
Abstract: A method is provide for measuring electromagnetic radiation radiated from a surface of an object that is irradiated by electromagnetic radiation given off by at least one radiation source. The radiation given off by the radiation source is determined by at least one first detector, and the radiation given off by the irradiated object is determined by at least one second detector that measures the radiation. The radiation from the at least one radiation source is actively modulated with at least one characteristic pyrometer. The radiation determined by the second detector is corrected with the radiation determined by the first detector to compensate for the radiation of the radiation source reflected from the object.

  • Patent number: 6360921
Abstract: An apparatus for discharging a liquid from a container is provided. A mobile unit is disposed in the container in such a way as to be movable therein in a contact-free manner for reducing the volume of the container. A bellows connects the mobile unit in a liquid-tight manner to an inner wall of the container. An interior chamber of the bellows that faces away from the container, together with a housing, form a space that is closed off against the exterior. A spindle, as a drive apparatus, is disposed in this space. The spindle is connected to the mobile unit in the interior chamber of the bellows.

  • Patent number: 6191392

The radiation given off by the radiation source is determined by at least one first detector, and the radiation given off by the irradiated object is determined by at least one second detector that measures the radiation. The radiation from the at least one radiation source is actively modulated with at least one characteristic parameter. The radiation determined by the second detector is corrected with the radiation determined by the first detector to compensate for the radiation of the radiation source reflected from the object.

  • Patent number: 6058912
Abstract: A fuel supply system with two series-connected pumps and fuel injection valves that inject fuel directly into a combustion chamber of an engine. The system includes a relief device. In a simple embodiment, the relief device can assure that the pressure in the pressure line can drop when the engine has been shutoff. The relief line may, however, also be embodied such that during the entire time of engine operation, the pressure in the pressure line can be lowered at any time as needed. The apparatus and the method are intended for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5967123
Abstract: A piston pump for pumping fuel in which a risk of fuel getting into the area of a shaft seal is limited. The fuel pump includes a separation chamber which is provided between a shaft seal and a fuel chamber that contains fuel. Located in the separation chamber is for instance air as a separator means, and the separation chamber communicates with an air inlet of the engine. This assures that fuel cannot get into the area of the shaft seal or escape to the outside. The fuel pump is suitable in particular for internal combustion engines in which the fuel must be delivered at high pressure.

  • Patent number: 5878718
Abstract: A fuel supply systems with two series-connected pumps and with fuel injection valves that inject fuel directly into a combustion chamber of an engine in which a starting process takes less time because of the small feed quantity of the second fuel pump. The system includes a valve device which assures that during the starting process the first fuel pump furnishes the fuel to the fuel valves at elevated feed pressure. In many cases, this elevated feed pressure suffices to start the engine in the quickest possible time. The apparatus and the method are intended for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5758622
Abstract: In a process and device for controlling an internal combustion engine, a fuel pump delivers fuel from a low-pressure area to a high-pressure area. The fuel can be delivered by activating injectors of the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. The pressure of the fuel in the high-pressure area is regulated to a predefinable value using a regulating means. The regulating means is activated immediately prior to and/or during the time when the injectors are activated to increase the pressure.

  • Patent number: 5609137
Abstract: A fuel injection apparatus of the invention for a two-stroke engine including a fuel injection with an adjusting device, which via a pulsating pressure line is supplied with the pulsating internal pressure and inner chamber of a crankcase of the two-stroke engine, so as to meter the supply quantity of the fuel injection pump as a function of the internal pressure in such a way that exhaust emissions and fuel consumption of the two-stroke engine are reduced by means of a supply quantity optimally adapted to the combustion. The fuel injection apparatus according to the invention is intended for use in two-stroke engines.

  • Patent number: 5225746
Abstract: A brushless direct current motor is energized by a power stage. Switches of the power stage are selectively switched by an electronic control device. In order to determine the correct commutation pattern, without using rotor position indicators, the control device is arranged to tap the power fed to the motor. The samples received by the motor, in an ordered sequence, define an analogue function whose parameters can be determined by vector addition. The computations applied to the sample enable the necessary commutating information and signals to be generated in a particularly rapid manner.

  • Patent number: 5204621
Abstract: A position sensor using a soft magnetic core and a permanent magnet for detecting linear or rotary movements of a part. In one embodiment, a differential transformer is provided with corresponding windings 3, 4 and 5, which are wound on a tubular carrier member 2. Provided inside the carrier member 2 are a saturatable core 6 with a V-shaped crosssection section and a control magnet 8 which slides on the inner surfaces. The core 6 is partially saturated on the contact surfaces, so that a virtual air gap is produced, so that the transformation ratio between the windings 3 and 4, 5 is controlled as a function of position. Other versions employ flat and/or meandering coil arrangements and, in two instances, rotational relative motion.
