  • Patent number: 6321096
Abstract: A communication terminal (MT) is equipped with a first communication unit (KOM1) for communicating with radio network base stations (DECTS) via a first radio interface (RI1), and with a second communication unit (KOM2) for communicating with a mobile radio network (MN) via a second radio interface (RI2). The terminal (MT) determines whether it has moved into the range covered by the radio network base stations. If it has moved into the range (RADECT) covered by a selected radio network base station (DECTS), it initiates a switch-over of the network-side routing of connection requests which are directed to the terminal (MT), and routes them via the selected radio network base station (DECTS). The initiation of the switch-over takes place by signalling the mobile radio network (MN).

  • Publication number: 20010040951
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for controlling the setting-up of a communication connection by a communication network (TELENET), as well as a service unit for implementing the method. During the call set-up a service request message (SR) for requesting an IN service is transmitted to a network server (SCP1 to SCP3) if the communication connection that is to be set up fulfils predetermined trigger conditions. The service request message (SR) transmitted to the network server (SCP1 to SCP3) is classified by a service unit (SSP; LLIN) as essential or non-essential. The operability of the network server is monitored by the service unit (SSP; LLIN).

  • Publication number: 20010038691
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of establishing a connection between a calling subscriber (A) and a called subscriber (B) as well as to an exchange (EX1) and a communications network for carrying out the method. To establish the connection, a connection request is routed from a terminal (TE1) of the calling subscriber (A) to the exchange (EX1) of the communications network. To determine the route to the called subscriber (B), the exchange (EX1) accesses a central first control unit (SCP) common to two or more exchanges which executes a first routing procedure and communicates the result to the exchange (EX1). The exchange (EX1) monitors the central first control unit (SCP) or the connection to the central first control unit (SCP) for failures. When it detects such a failure, it accesses a second control unit (PROZ2) in the exchange (EX1) which executes an alternative second routing procedure instead of the first routing procedure.

  • Patent number: 6289091
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of making changes in a directory number administration (DNA), a directory number administration facility whereby changes are made in accordance with this method, and a method for providing a directory number administration service via such a directory number administration. The directory number administration (DNA) manages the assignment of a quantity of subscriber stations to call numbers. To make a change in this assignment, a change order is entered into the directory number administration and the change takes place when the change order is executed by the directory number administration (DNA). However the change order is not executed immediately by the directory number administration (DNA) when a change order is entered. A connection is established between a subscriber terminal (TE) and the directory number administration (DNA), and a trigger message (TRIG) is sent from the subscriber terminal (TE) to the directory number administration (DNA) via the established connection.

  • Patent number: 6263058
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of providing charge information and to a service control unit (SCP) for carrying out the method. During the establishment of a call from a calling subscriber (A) to a called subscriber (B), the service control unit (SCP) is triggered. From a plurality of network operators (OP1 to OP3) to whose tariff model data it has access, the service control unit (SCP) selects one or more network operators that provide a service for the call. Based on the tariff model data of the selected network operator or the selected network operators and on data about the calling and called subscribers (A, B), the service control unit (SCP) calculates a tariff for the call. It sends a signaling message (SM) containing a tariff identification assigned to the tariff to the terminal exchange (SUBSW) of the calling subscriber (A), which then sends charge information (SCP) to the calling subscriber (A) according to the tariff identification received from the service control unit (SCP).

  • Patent number: 6215770
Abstract: A requesting terminal signals a call request (CALL) to a control unit of a first communications network. The control unit then determines whether sufficient capacity is available in the first communications network to establish the connection requested by the call request. In the event of insufficient capacity, the control unit transmits an overload message (DAT) to the requesting terminal. It only initiates an alternative establishment of the requested connection via another, second communications network after it receives an acknowledge message (ACK) issued by the requesting terminal.

  • Patent number: 6163605
Abstract: For the establishment of a call in a communications network (KN), one of two or more different subscriber identifications (UA) which all address the called subscriber (B) is sent from a terminal (T1) of a calling subscriber (A) to a service unit (SU) of the communications network (KN). The service unit (SU) accesses a database (DB) which manages different types of subscriber identifications (UA) and in which groups of two or more different subscriber identifications are assigned to one called subscriber (B) each. Via the database access, the service unit (SU) determines from the received subscriber identification (UA) a network address (RN) assigned to the called subscriber (B) which addresses a terminal (T2) of the called subscriber (B) in the communications network (KN). The call between the calling subscriber (A) and the called subscriber (B) is then established by means of the network address (RN).

  • Patent number: 6104792
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of informing a subscriber in a communication network about the charge for a desired connection, and a service control facility (SCP), a subscriber switching facility, a terminal (TA) and a communication network for carrying out this method. A subscriber signals a call request, which specifies the desired connection, to the communication network via the terminal (TA). The service control facility (SCP), or the subscriber switching facility, then determines tariff data (T) concerning the charge for a desired connection, independently of the establishment of the desired connection. Before the desired connection has been established, the tariff data (T) are sent to the terminal (TA), which displays the data as tariff data to the subscriber, by means of a display unit.

  • Patent number: 6091809
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of establishing a connection, as well as exchanges and a service control unit to carry out the method of establishing a connection. A calling subscriber (A) requests a connection to a called subscriber who is assigned to a geographical area (LOC2), whose number range is shared by two or more subscriber access networks (LN21 to LN23) of different network operators (OP21 to OP23). To establish the requested connection, a connection request is routed to the subscriber access network (LN23) of the called subscriber (B) via one or several communications networks (LN1, TN2). As part of the connection request and in addition to a directory number (N) which determines the called subscriber (B) within the number range of the geographical area (LOC2), a separate operator code (KOP23) is also transmitted, which determines the network operator (OP23) of the subscriber access network (LN23) of the called subscriber (B).

  • Patent number: 6002755
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing a subscriber (SUB1) with information relating to call-charges for telecommunication services associated with a communication link, as well as a call-charge device (CHARGE), a subscriber terminal (TE4) and a service unit for carrying out the method. The call-charge device (CHARGE) receives one or several of the call-metering messages (MP) associated with the communication link and calculates while the communication link is operative, from these messages (MP) the charges (CH) accrued for the communication link. The call-charge device (CHARGE) then associates with the calculated charges (CH) an acoustic signal and generates an electric signal (ES) which corresponds to the associated acoustic signal. The acoustic signal is subsequently conveyed to the subscriber (SUB1) with the help of an electro-acoustic transducer (LS) which is controlled by the electric signal (ES).

  • Patent number: 5943320
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for charging for the use of a telecommunication service, as well as to a switching system, a service control point and a network management facility. A service request is transmitted from a subscriber (A) via a telecommunication network (KN) of a network operator to a service-providing unit (SAPP1) of the service provider. A charge unit (BILL) of the network operator administers the charge collection for the use of the telecommunication service. The service-providing unit (SAPP1) provides the requested telecommunication service only after receipt of a confirmation message from a authorization unit (AUT) of the network operator. The charge message (M6) with data relating to a charge for using the telecommunication service is transferred from the service-providing unit (SAPP1) to the charge unit (BILL) and the charge unit (BILL) collects the charge after the confirmation message has been received.
