  • Publication number: 20250007599
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A receiver may orient its antenna arrays based on signaling from a transmitter and a distance between the receiver and the transmitter. The transmitter may transmit an indication of an orientation of its antenna array. The receiver may receive the indication and may determine the distance between the receiver and the transmitter. Based on whether the distance between the receiver and the transmitter satisfies a threshold distance from the transmitter, the receiver may select an orientation for its antenna array.

  • Publication number: 20250007593
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) or relay node may transmit a beam report indicating a polarization layer mismatch (achievable rates are different for the first and second polarizations, or positioning estimation accuracy is different for the first and second polarizations). The report may include an indication of an imbalance in signal strength, an estimation error for the two polarizations, one or more beam pairs that are not supported across the two polarizations, a preferred polarization, or a combination thereof. In response to the beam report, the network entity may adjust one or more parameters, and may transmit accordingly. A relay node may indicate non-co-located polarization array construction via capability information. The UE may then transmit feedback indicating a direction of steered beams at the UE. The relay node performs relay operations based on transmission characteristics selected from the beam direction information.

  • Patent number: 12184365
Abstract: A dual-polarized multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) mobile device is provided that includes a first array of antennas and a second array of antennas. Based upon a blockage of at least one of the array of antennas being less than a blockage threshold, the mobile device operates in a default configuration in which a default polarization selection from the second array is used in combination with a fixed polarization selection from the first array to form a first MIMO layer signal and a second MIMO layer signal. Should the blockage exceed the blockage threshold and an optional performance threshold be satisfied, the mobile device may operate in a dynamic configuration in which a dynamic polarization selection from the second array is reversed as compared to the default polarization selection.

  • Publication number: 20240430902
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. To reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) associated with transmissions in a wireless communications system, a user equipment (UE) may implement tone reservation techniques. The UE may receive downlink control information from a base station that indicates a set of allocated resources that the UE is to use for the tone reservation. The UE may identify a first set of tones of the set of allocated resources for transmitting a data signal and a second set of tones of the set of allocated resources for transmitting a peak-reduction signal that reduces the peak power of the data signal. The UE may transmit the data signal and the peak-reduction signal based on the received downlink control information.

  • Publication number: 20240421888
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may detect and report blockage conditions based on measuring signal strengths of reference signals. A UE may determine a slew rate for the signal strength, corresponding to a rate of change of a signal strength parameter (e.g., a reference signal received power (RSRP) or a received signal strength indicator (RSSI)) with respect to time, and report the slew rate to a base station to indicate signal strength degradation (e.g., due to a blockage). In some examples, the UE may define multiple slew rates associated with different rates of change of the signal strength parameter with respect to time. When the UE crosses a level of slew rate, the UE may indicate this to the base station to initiate mitigation procedures. In some examples, the techniques described herein may be extended to reporting slew rates for multiple beams.

  • Publication number: 20240405841
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, including detection of whether a first wireless device is location within a near-field distance of a second wireless device. The first wireless device measures phases of reference signals received at first antenna array of the first antenna array from a second antenna array of the second wireless device. The first wireless device determines, based on the phases, the values of quadratic terms associated with an equation for calculating the distance between a first antenna of the first antenna array and the center of the first antenna array or for calculating the distance between a second antenna of the second antenna array and the center of the second antenna array. The first wireless device determines, based on the quadratic terms, whether the first wireless device is within the near-field distance of the second wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20240405932
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to adaptively generate beam weights for use in communications with multiple transmission reception points (TRPs) at a single antenna panel of the UE. For example, the UE may perform reference signal measurements using coordinated reference signals from the multiple TRPs. The UE may use the reference signal measurements to generate and select adaptive beam weights. The UE may generate beams using the selected beam weights to receive and/or transmit signaling to or from the multiple TRPs at a single antenna panel of the UE. In some cases, the TRPs may indicate coordination information, such as timing alignment errors (TAEs) and carrier frequency offsets (CFOs), such that the UE may receive the reference signals and co-phase energy from the multiple TRPs at an antenna panel using a same set of time-frequency resources.

  • Publication number: 20240396602
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the techniques described herein may support generating an average effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) mask in accordance with a set of weighted values to support interference management. For example, a wireless device may obtain one or more information bits for transmission by the wireless device via a transmit beam of multiple transmit beams of the wireless device and may generate, based on one or more directional parameters associated with a beamforming direction of the transmit beam, a set of weighted values for an average EIRP mask for the transmission of the one or more information bits. Additionally, the wireless device may transmit, via the transmit beam in the beamforming direction based on the one or more directional parameters and the set of weighted values, a signal comprising the one or more information bits to meet the average EIRP mask.

The set of dynamic beam weights may be based on an eigenvector of the channel correlation matrix. Additionally, the implementations further include applying the set of dynamic beam weights to an antenna array.
