  • Patent number: 9716596
Abstract: Notifications regarding data usage may be transmitted to mobile devices based on a threshold of data usage determined from a profile associated with the device. Upon receiving a request for service from a mobile device, a network device, such as a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) device, may determine a current bandwidth usage for the device and obtain a profile associated with the device. The network device may determine a threshold of data usage for the mobile device from the profile and determine whether the mobile device has met the threshold. If so, a notification may be transmitted to the mobile device indicating that the threshold has been met.

  • Publication number: 20170180540
Abstract: An emergency mobile call agent includes a mobile originating call agent and a mobile terminating call agent. The mobile originating call agent responds to receiving an emergency notification and the emergency being above an emergency threshold condition, by notifying a contact list associated with a user that the user is impacted by the emergency. The mobile originating call agent may notify the contact list if the emergency is at or above a threshold emergency level set by the user. The mobile terminating call agent controls cellular traffic by evaluating one or more aspects of radio access network (RAN) loading and diverting incoming traffic to a user impacted by the emergency to another form of communication if RAN loading is too high for the traffic.

  • Patent number: 9655134
Abstract: A first network device in a network, such as an LTE network, configured to establish a default bearer between a node and the first network device. The first network device may transmit a first communication type between the first network device and the node over the a default bearer and receive a service request requesting the establishment of a dedicated bearer for the transmission of a second communication type between the first network device and the node, the service request requesting that the dedicated bearer have a quality of service higher than the quality of service of the default bearer. The first network device may transmit the second type of communication between the first network device and the node over the default bearer, establish the dedicated bearer, and then switch the transmission of the second type of communication from the default bearer to the dedicated bearer.
