Abstract: Methods and systems may involve storing device-specific user preference data to a local device and receiving a real-time request from a remote device. One or more user coefficients may be used to filter the device-specific user preference data in response to the request. In one example, the user preference data includes keyword data and the filtered keyword data is used to discover and present information to the user via the remote device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying and locating related content using natural language processing are generally disclosed herein. One embodiment includes an HTML5/JavaScript user interface configured to execute scripting commands to perform natural language processing and related content searches, and to provide a dynamic interface that enables both user-interactive and automatic methods of obtaining and displaying related content. The natural language processing may extract one or more context-sensitive key terms of text associated with a set of content. Related content may be located and identified using keyword searches that include the context-sensitive key terms. For example, text associated with video of a first content, such as text originating from subtitles or closed captioning, may be used to perform searches and locate related content such as a video of a second content, or text of a third content.

Abstract: Methods and systems may involve receiving a real-time keyword associated with media content, and identifying modifier data associated with a user that encounters the media content. In addition, the real-time keyword and the modifier data may be transmitted to an advertising service, which may select a topic-relevant and user-specific advertisement based on the real-time keyword and the modifier data.

Abstract: Methods and systems may involve identifying source content associated with an activity of is user with respect to a rust media source. Discovery content may be captured from one or more additional media sources based on the source content, wherein the discovery content may be presented to the user if at least a portion of the discovery content is tangential to the source content.

Abstract: Methods and systems may involve identifying metadata associated with a local application, and using an operating system-independent chat protocol to pass the metadata to a remote application. The metadata may include information to be presented to a user of a device executing the remote application, information to be used to locate more information for presentation to the user of the other device, information to be used to coordinate operation of multiple devices, and so forth. In one example, the metadata is passed using a protocol such as XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol).

Abstract: Provided are a remote controller and a method of controlling the remote controller, wherein the remote controller is operable to be in one of a first operating mode or a second operating mode, and which is connectable to a docking station, the remote controller including: an internal display screen, which displays at least one digital image; and a controller which may be operable to change between the first and second operating modes, wherein if the remote controller is connected to the docking station and if the remote controller is in the second operating mode, the controller controls the remote controller to change to the first operating mode to provide predetermined multimedia content.

Abstract: In some embodiments, methods and devices for generation and playback of metadata directed dynamic and personal data curation of content are described. In at least one embodiment, an embodiment is intended to ensure presentations using Web or remote content remain fresh, using current content and can transcend cultural, geographical or demographic barriers to be relevant and effectively communicate intent. Dynamic story elements within a presentation are correlated with metadata tags having information about the process used to find or grab the content and may include criteria for replacing content to be more contextually relevant to a reader's experience, geographic location, demographic or other context. Abstract: In some embodiments, the invention involves context based search engine using a user selected term within a media experience. A natural language processor module is configured to provide context based keywords related to the search term and from within the media experience. In some embodiments, a proximity based statistical analysis is used to derive the keywords. The keywords are provided to at least one content browser or other search engine(s) to effect the search. In some embodiments, a machine learning module is communicatively coupled to the natural language processer to further refine the context for selecting relevant keywords. The context search engine, natural language processor module, machine learning module and search engine may reside on the same computing device or be distributed among a variety of local, remote and cloud devices for processing. Abstract: A touchscreen-based user interface that allows the user to perform information searching on a mobile information appliance, such as a tablet computer or smart phone. By moving one or two fingers in appropriate direction(s) across the touchscreen, a search may be specified. Moreover, by using the appropriate gestures, a search may be broadened or narrowed by specifying additional search terms. This may be performed iteratively to allow the user to discover information, at various times narrowing or broadening a search.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying a contents list. The method includes: displaying a loading image on a loading region to display a thumbnail image before the thumbnail image is displayed, animating the loading image displayed in the loading region such that a center coordinate of the loading image is maintained; and displaying the thumbnail image in the loading region, by substituting the loading image with the thumbnail image. The loading image represents a state in which the thumbnail image is loading, the animating the loading image comprises pivoting the loading image by a preset degree of an angle, and the pivoting the loading image by the preset degree of the angle comprises displaying a plurality of loading images by differentiating pivoting speeds of the plurality of loading images.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a program navigation system involves a television (TV) set (or other audio/visual presentation device) and a mobile device. While the TV set is playing an audio/visual program, a keyword recognition module may extract keywords from textual data associated with the program. The textual data may include textual words that match words spoken in the program. Time markers for the keywords may also be saved. A time marker may indicate a play time within the program for the corresponding keyword. The TV set may automatically transmit the keywords to the mobile device, and the mobile device may automatically display the keywords in a user interface. A user may then select one of the keywords. In response, the mobile device may automatically cause the TV set to jump to a portion of the program containing the selected keyword. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
