  • Patent number: 8688480
Abstract: An automated system is disclosed for managing accounts receivable for outstanding healthcare accounts. In particular, the system in accordance with the present invention is an automated system which preemptively assesses the risk of denials of outstanding healthcare accounts by way of a self-learning engine driven by current data and prioritizes those accounts for follow up according to the risk profile of the account. As such, the system is able to minimize denials by the respective payers thereby improving optimizing the efforts of healthcare accounts receivable personnel while improving the revenue yield and minimizing the revenue cycle.

  • Publication number: 20140076973
Abstract: This invention provides a system and apparatus that is able to authenticate and prevent illegal manufacturing and unauthorized operation of disposable bioprocess components. This invention utilizes a ferro-electric random access memory chip (FRAM) chip to store error-correctable information on a RFID tag attached to the disposable bioprocess components, where the error-correctable information is written in sequence into the memory chip, so that the redundant information can remain in the chip when the RFID tag and disposable bioprocess component is gamma-sterilized. Also, this invention includes a method for authenticating the disposable bioprocess component that reduces liability in that a counterfeit poor quality disposable component is not used on the hardware so the user will not file an unjustified complaint.

  • Patent number: 8621781
Abstract: A low cost valve and system for automated ebb and flow irrigation utilizes a collapsible sleeve to control fluid flow direction. No external power, moving parts, or floats are needed to operate the valve, resulting in improved reliability, low operating cost, and minimal need for maintenance. The valve operates using feed pressure to close the drain when hydroponic nutrient solution is pumped into the cultivation chamber. The valve drains automatically once the pump is stopped, usually by means of a timer, and the spent hydroponic solution is recovered. The fill/drain cycle is repeated as needed to keep the plants moist, yet not waterlogged.

  • Patent number: 8601220
Abstract: In one embodiment, a data migration technique enables a source storage system to efficiently and reliably migrate data to a destination storage system. The source storage system includes a copy engine that is configured to migrate or copy a set of data, e.g., one or more files, to the destination storage system using a file-based protocol over a network. The copy engine is also configured to ensure that any locks associated with the migrated data set are reclaimed at the destination storage system using a lock-based protocol. The source storage system further includes a proxy service that is configured to translate client requests to access the migrated data set to access requests executable (i.e., discernable) by the destination storage system. The proxy service then forwards or proxies the translated requests over the network to the destination storage system for processing.

  • Patent number: 8566833
Abstract: According to a novel mechanism, each processing device (e.g., a central processing unit (CPU) in a multi-processor system) is assigned to process a single execution thread for a task and the execution thread is processed across various layers of the multi-processor system (such as a network layer and application layer) without being divided into separate threads. Advantageously, upon initialization of the multi-processor system, network context data structures are created equal to the number of processing devices in the system. As used herein, a network context is a logical entity to which zero or more connections are bound during their lifetime. Rather than sharing data structures among execution threads, a multi-processor system allocates memory resources per each network context during initialization of the system. As a result, an execution thread processing a task queued to a particular network context accesses memory resources allocated for that network context only.

  • Publication number: 20130232845
Abstract: A reflective dot gunsight is disclosed that includes a power generation unit utilizing a hand driven dynamo to provide power. This enables the gunsight to operate independently of the availability of suitable charged batteries, providing a critical advantage in sporting and combat situations. Failure of battery power at a critical moment is a major source of anxiety and forces many users away from the obvious advantages of lighted reflective dot sights. Battery failure can occur suddenly and without warning rendering the reflective dot sight useless. Even if spare batteries are carried, it takes several minutes to replace the battery. The LED lamp in the disclosed gunsight is powered by a non-removable supercapacitor that is charged by a hand cranked dynamo. A few seconds of cranking provides minutes of operation and the device can be recharged to full capacity at any time.

  • Patent number: 8518467
Abstract: Methods, devices, and compositions relating to processed grain products are shown for ground corn flour, soybean meal, cottonseed meal, and wheat middlings. An exemplary method shown is a fiber separation process for the ethanol industry corn products of Distillers Dried Grains (DDG) and Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) resulting from the widely used dry grind technology. A shown process and apparatus allows the removal and separate recovery of fiber-reduced products with expanded potential for use as a non-ruminant feed product in addition to the removal and separate recovery of a fiber-enriched product. The fiber enriched and fiber reduced products each have uses in the feed industry. The specific processes, devices, and compositions shown are readily adaptable to feed mills.

  • Publication number: 20120270186
Abstract: An essential element of sharpshooter training is the reduction of quivering of the firearm. Such quivering or jitter is caused by inadvertent movement of the shooter while holding the firearm. Embodiments of the present invention comprise a motion sensing device that is attached to the firearm to produce visual and aural feedback to the shooter on the degree of gun shake. The shooter can thus practice different shooting stances, muscle control, and breathing techniques, and use the feedback from the gun shake sensor to evaluate and adjust these parameters. This training aid improves firearm accuracy without the need for stands, stabilizers, or other aids. The training aid can be rapidly attached to, and removed from any firearm.

  • Publication number: 20120180367
Abstract: A laser beam generating module capable of projecting a series of concentric circles of light is connected to the frame of a firearm in substantial alignment with the gun barrel. The laser beam can be actuated on demand, and the resultant pattern will be projected onto the target. Due to the intrinsic fan angle of the spatially projected beams, the circles displayed on the target will appear to be spaced further apart when the target is further away, and appear to be spaced closer when the target is nearer. By selecting a suitable laser fan angle, it is possible to get an immediate visual indication of the approximate range to the target increasing the potential accuracy.
