Publication number: 20220141920Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for enhancement of multi-SIM devices, such as UE 106. A network may increase paging retries for known MU-SIM devices, e.g., based on an indication of capabilities from a MU-SIM device. The indication may be via a NAS registration request, an RRC capability procedure, and/or an RRC UE assistance procedure. Additionally, a network may include an indication of a paging priority to the UE. The UE may then determine a response to the page based, at least in part, on the indicated priority. Further, the UE may indicate a tune-away to the network. The indication of the tune-away may include a cause and/or duration for the tune-away and may be provided at an RRC level or a network access stratum (NAS) level.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2022Publication date: May 5, 2022Inventors: Lakshmi N. Publication number: 20220132287Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE), manufacturer server, and/or cellular network to perform radio capability signaling. A new type of UE radio capability identifier is provided which may allow a network to distinguish between similar UEs that have or have not implemented a capability update. In order to perform a forced capability update, a manufacturer may issue information about the update to a cellular network (and receive acknowledgement of the information) prior to pushing the update to UEs. In response to an unforced capability update, a cellular network may maintain multiple UE radio capability identifiers for similar UEs which have or have not implemented the update. A UE radio capability identifier may be adjusted dynamically in response to temporary changes in the UE's capability.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2022Publication date: April 28, 2022Inventors: Alosious Pradeep Prabhakar, Mohammed Sadique, Vijay Venkataraman, Krisztian Kiss, Jordi Agud Ruitz, Yip Pong Herbert Wong, Kok Yin Chan, Srinivasan Nimmala, Lakshmi N. Patent number: 11317325Abstract: A device, system, and method improve a call setup time. The method is performed at a device configured to establish first and second network connections where the second network performs circuit switched voice calls. The method includes receiving a call input to perform a call and determining whether the device is registered with a first feature to perform the call based on an Internet Protocol (IP). When the device is registered with the first feature, the method includes determining whether timeouts for attempting previous IP calls is greater than a threshold. When the timeouts are at least the threshold, the method includes deregistering from the first feature and performing a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) procedure including a handover from the first network to the second network. The method includes performing the call as a circuit switched call.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2018Date of Patent: April 26, 2022Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sundarraman Balasubramanian, Vijay Venkataraman, Nordine Kadri, Alistair McFarlane

Publication number: 20220121836Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) navigation system is configured to automatically identify a suitable UAV landing site, for example, in forced-landing (e.g., emergency) scenarios. In some examples, the system receives two or more overlapping images depicting a landscape underneath an airborne unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV); generates, based on the two or more overlapping images, a depth map for the landscape; identifies, based on the depth map, regions of the landscape having a depth variance below a threshold value; determines, for each of the regions of the landscape having a depth variance below the threshold value, a landing zone quality score indicative of the depth variance and a semantic type of the region of the landscape; identifies, based on the landing zone quality scores, a suitable location for landing the UAV; and causes the UAV to automatically navigate toward and land on the suitable location.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2020Publication date: April 21, 2022Inventors: Carl Arthur Dins, Alberto Speranzon, Vijay Venkataraman, Juan Hu, Zhiyong Dai

Publication number: 20220085906Abstract: The exemplary embodiments describe devices, systems and methods for implementing various exemplary techniques related to fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) cell search. A user equipment (UE) selects a frequency band to scan during a cell search procedure and identifies a frequency within the frequency band that is associated with a synchronization signal block (SSB) based on an indication of the frequency stored locally at the UE prior to the cell search procedure. The UE then scans the frequency for the SSB and determines that the SSB has been broadcast by a cell over the frequency.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2020Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Srirang A. Publication number: 20220044424Abstract: Techniques for detecting motion of a vehicle are disclosed. Optical flow techniques are applied to the entirety of the received images from an optical sensor mounted to a vehicle. Motion detection techniques are then imposed on the optical flow output to remove image portions that correspond to objects moving independent from the vehicle and determine the extent, if any, of movement by the vehicle from the remaining image portions. Motion detection can be performed via a machine learning classifier. In some aspects, motion can be detected by extracting the depth of received images in addition to optical flow. In additional or alternative aspects, the optical flow and/or motion detection techniques can be implemented by at least one artificial neural network.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2020Publication date: February 10, 2022Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Vegnesh Jayaraman, Sai Krishnan Chandrasekar, Andrew Stewart, Vijay Venkataraman
