  • Publication number: 20230397095
Abstract: A device executing a low-latency application that uses a Wi-Fi link may switch from the Wi-Fi link to using a second link to a multi-subscriber (MSIM) PHS device. The device may access, via the second link, any one of multiple cellular links, each cellular link corresponding to a different respective cellular subscription of multiple subscriptions used by the PHS device. The application executing on the device may thus use a preferred cellular link from among the multiple cellular links. The preferred cellular link may be determined based on parameters corresponding to the plurality of cellular links for each respective cellular subscription. The parameters may be obtained from a location database. The preferred cellular link (which may presently correspond to a primary subscription) on the PHS device may be switched to be a different cellular link (which may correspond to a non-primary subscription) during execution of the application on the device.

  • Publication number: 20230388775
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for SoR list management and PLMN selection based on an SoR list. A UE may receive an SoR container which may include a list of OPLMNs. The UE may store a prior list of OPLMNs stored on a USIM of the UE on a memory of the UE. The UE replace the prior list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM with the list of OPLMNs included in the SoR container. The UE may consider the prior list of OPLMNs as a lower priority list as compared to the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM. Additionally, in response to determining to move from a current PLMN, the UE may scan for a new PLMN based on the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM.

  • Publication number: 20230370966
Abstract: The present application relates to improving a roaming service. In an example, user equipment (UE) initiates a cell selection process to choose between a first cell and a second cell. The UE evaluates a first uplink (UL) channel condition of the first cell and a second UL channel condition of the second cell based on the initiation. The UE selects the first cell or the second cell based on the evaluated first UL channel condition and second UL channel condition. The UE initiates a random access channel (RACH) procedure based on the selected first cell or second cell.

  • Patent number: 11812375
Abstract: A network component of a radio access network (RAN) is configured to provide network slice information to a user equipment (UE). The network component receives an indication that a user equipment (UE) is requesting to access a network slice, determines a frequency associated with the network slice, identifies a cell within the RAN that operates on the frequency associated the network slice and transmits a message to the UE, wherein the message indicates the cell within the RAN that operates on the frequency associated with the network slice.

  • Patent number: 11812333
Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

  • Publication number: 20230337045
Abstract: A base station (BS) may receive, from a network node, one or more data packets including one or more reflective quality of service (QoS) indicator (RQI) markings. The base station may then determine, based on a value of the one or more RQI markings, one or more active uplink (UL) QoS rules associated with a user equipment (UE). The base station may further determine, based on at least one of one or more timers, the one or more active UL QoS rules, and status information received from the UE, to include or refrain from including the one or more RQI markings in a transmission of the one or more data packets to the UE. Accordingly, in response to the determining that the RQI markings should be included, the base station may then transmit the one or more packets including the RQI markings to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11792878
Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing implicit radio resource control state transitions in a cellular communication system. A wireless device may establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a cellular base station. A data inactivity timer length and a target RRC state for implicit RRC transitions may be determined. A data inactivity timer having the determined data inactivity timer length may be initiated. It may be determined that the data inactivity timer has expired. The wireless device may transition to the target RRC state based at least in part on determining that the data inactivity timer has expired.

  • Patent number: 11785545
Abstract: Methods related to an inactive state of a user equipment (UE). In one example, when an amount of data in an uplink buffer is less than a threshold, the data is sent to the network while remaining in the inactive state. In another example, when reselecting to a different cell, the UE attempts to reselect to the different cell and remain in the inactive state. When transitioning to a connected state at the reselected cell, the UE sends a resume request including an identification of the first cell. In another example, when a high priority or a background PLMN search is performed in the inactive state, the results are cached and implemented the earlier of when a timer expires or the UE enters an idle state. In another example, a cell reselection criteria is altered in the inactive state to make it less likely that a cell reselection will occur.

  • Publication number: 20230319700
Abstract: A mobile device (UE) may access standalone non-public networks (SNPNs) in various different locations as equivalent SNPNs (eSNPNs) corresponding to a home SNPN of the device. The device may obtain a list of eSNPNs corresponding to the home SNPN, and may access a second SNPN at a location different from a location of the home SNPN, in response to identifying the second SNPN and the list including the second SNPN as an eSNPN corresponding to the home SNPN of the device. The eSNPNs may include roaming eSNPNs (ReSNPNs) for accessing an enterprise NPN globally and/or at various different locations. The eSNPN/ReSNPN list may be maintained in a new network identifier management function (NMF). NPNs may be implemented as network slice instances (NSIs) via identifying data in the single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI). Multiple credentialed SNPNs of a UE may be prioritized for access by the UE.

  • Publication number: 20230319611
Abstract: Techniques and wireless devices to perform adaptive measurement object prioritization in a cellular communication scenario. A wireless link is established by the wireless device with a serving cell of a cellular base station. Adaptive measurement object prioritization is implemented responsive to determining that a trigger condition has occurred. A configuration message is received from the base station, where the configuration indicates a plurality of measurement objects including both Long Term Evolution (LTE) and New Radio (NR) measurement objects. A first measurement object of the plurality of measurement objects is selected to prioritize for measurement. The first measurement object is measured during a first measurement gap prior to measuring one or more second measurement objects of the plurality of measurement objects, and a measurement report is provided to the serving cell specifying a measurement result of the first measurement object.

  • Publication number: 20230319681
Abstract: The present application relates to improving a roaming service. In an example, a home network of a user equipment (UE) defines a first set of UE route selection policy (URSP) rules for managing traffic of the UE when connected to the home network. While roaming, the UE is connected to a visited network. Based on the first set of URSP rules and guidance information of the visited network indicating one or more URSP rules that the visited network can support for the UE, the home network defines a second set of URSP rules for managing traffic of the UE while roaming. The home network sends, via the visited network, the second set of URSP rules to the UE as rule information for use by the UE while connected to the visited network.
