  • Publication number: 20230407136
Abstract: Articles comprising, in order: a first adherend, a first primer layer, an adhesive layer, and a second adherend are provided, where the adhesive layer comprises pressure sensitive adhesive domains and structural adhesive domains. Typically, the first primer layer covers first portions of the first adherend adjacent to structural adhesive domains and does not cover second portions of the first adherend adjacent to pressure sensitive adhesive domains. Methods of making such articles are provided, which comprise applying a cure-initiating primer to first portions of the first adherend to form a first primer layer while leaving second portions of the first adherend bare of the first primer layer, and thereafter applying a curable adhesive film over the first primer layer, such that portions of the curable adhesive film are cured to form structural adhesive domains and other portions remain uncured pressure sensitive adhesive domains.

  • Patent number: 11453193
Abstract: Various apparatuses are disclosed including those that have curvature arresting properties. According to one example, the apparatus can optionally include a flexible first film, a second film and a first plurality of features. The first plurality of features can be disposed between the first film and the second film At least some of the first plurality of features are spaced apart from one another by a gap when the first film is not subject to an applied bending force or is subject to the applied bending force below a predetermined magnitude in one or both of the transverse direction and the longitudinal direction, and at least some of the first plurality of features contact one another to arrest a curvature of the first film when the applied bending force is at or above the predetermined magnitude.

  • Publication number: 20210268627
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an abrasive article (10). The abrasive article (10) has a direction of use, a y-axis and a z-axis orthogonal to the y-axis and the direction of use. The abrasive article (10) further includes a backing (12) and shaped abrasive particles attached to the backing. About 5% to about 100% of the shaped abrasive particles (14) independently include a first side surface (16), a second side surface (18) opposed to the first side surface (16), a leading surface (20) connected to the first side surface (16) at a first edge (24) and connected to the second side surface (18) at a second edge (26), a rake angle (30) between the backing (12) and the leading surface (20) in a range of from about 10 degrees to about 110 degrees, and a z-direction rotational angle (50) between a line (52) intersecting the first edge (16) and second edge (18) and the direction of use (22) of the abrasive article (10) in a range of from about 10 degrees to about 170 degrees.

  • Publication number: 20200156215
Abstract: The present invention includes an abrasive tool comprising a substrate and plurality of abrasive grains arranged in a pseudo-random pattern on the substrate. The abrasive grains cover in the range of 10% to 30% of the substrate surface, and in some instances, the arrangement of abrasive grains demonstrate improved orientation independence and homogeneity in distribution of abrasive grains.
