  • Publication number: 20230421413
Abstract: RF signal is received (1006). The received RF signal includes a first RF signal encoding a first orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of a first long-term evolution (LTE) V2X data packet. A channel estimation in the time domain is determined (1012) using the received signal and an as-transmitted time domain version of an L-LTF symbol is determined (1014). The channel estimation in the time domain is applied to the as-transmitted time domain version of the L-LTF symbol to determine an as-transmitted version of the L-LTF symbol that exhibits channel fading (1018). A first portion of the as-transmitted version of the L-LTF symbol that exhibits channel fading is subtracted from a second portion of the received RF signal (1022) to remove inter-symbol interference from the received signal to generate a second received RF signal.

  • Publication number: 20230421314
Abstract: The received RF signal includes a first RF signal encoding a first orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of a first long-term evolution (LTE) V2X data packet. A legacy long training field (L-LTF) symbol is determined using the received RF signal (608), a channel estimation is calculated (612) using the L-LTF symbol, and legacy signal (L-SIG) field control bits are determined (614) from the received RF signal, the L-SIG field control bits including a plurality of IQ samples. A plurality of candidate L-SIG decodings are generated (618) using the IQ samples and the channel estimation, wherein each candidate L-SIG decoding of the plurality of L-SIG decodings is generated by setting a different number of IQ samples in the L-SIG field control bits to zero values (616), and a first L-SIG decoding of the plurality of candidate L-SIG decodings is identified (624). A data field from the received RF signal is decoded using the first L-SIG decoding (626).

  • Patent number: 11778667
Abstract: In connection with an RF communication system, exemplary aspects involve a method for use in a communication system in which a first system (e.g., 802.11) that is asynchronously based and which is susceptible to interference from a second system (e.g., synchronous-based LTE-CV2X). Such interference is due to the frequency spectrum used by the first and second systems overlapping. To mitigate interference issues, example methods spreads out the times for messages in the first system, based on information concerning occupancy of the channel, and transmitting them relative to the end of a cycled transmission allocated for use by the second system.

  • Patent number: 11677504
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to use with communications that may involve repetitive communications. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a subset of symbols in a current data message (130/131) are used with a corresponding subset of symbols in a previous data message (120/121), to ascertain whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This may involve, for instance, generating a resemblance metric to represent semblance between a subset the data symbols of the current data message and a subset the data symbols of the previous data message (102). The resemblance metric can be used in determining whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This approach may be useful, for example, in ascertaining whether the current message is a repetition without necessarily decoding the message.

  • Publication number: 20230176183
Abstract: A method, system, apparatus, and architecture are provided for validating one or more sensors by collecting and processing sensor data signals from on-board vehicle sensors to generate a local environmental map identifying one or more first traffic features located in an exterior environment of the vehicle, by collecting and processing sensor data signals from a remote traffic participant to generate an external environmental map identifying one or more second traffic features located in an exterior environment of the remote traffic participant, and by performing a diagnostic sensor cross check on on-board sensors by comparing the local environmental map with at least the external environmental map to detect any discrepancy between the one or more first traffic features and the one or more second traffic features which indicates that one or more of the on-board sensors is defective.

  • Patent number: 11652723
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to ascertaining whether data messages are repetitions of a previous data message. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments characterized herein, data packets (130/131) are received (102) and which use a first time delay relative to transmission of a previous data packet (120/121) by a different transmitter. Repetitions (110A/111A) of data packets are also received (102), and which use a second time delay relative to transmission of a previous data packet (110/111) by the same transmitter. The second time delay is less than the first time delay. The received packet is identified (102) as being a repetition of an immediately-previous data packet based on a time delay between the data packet and the immediately-previous data packet, relative to the first and second time delays.

  • Publication number: 20230123869
Abstract: A battery management system for tracking a state of charge of a battery including multiple cells including a coulomb counter (CC) estimator and an artificial intelligence (AI) estimator. The CC estimator determines a charge difference over time for tracking changes of a state of charge of each cell and updates a corresponding state of charge value. The AI estimator converts a set of sample values of a cell into an estimated state of charge for calibrating the cell. A controller may periodically invoke the AI estimator to calibrate the state of charge of each cell and to update a corresponding state of charge value. Processing by the AI estimator may be minimized by being used only to calibrate each cell before combined error of the CC estimator reaches a predetermined threshold. AI based calibration may use Long Short-Term Memories and may further incorporate voltage mean and voltage variance over time.

  • Publication number: 20230023302
Abstract: A mechanism is provided to reduce interference between vehicular radar systems through communicating radar parameters and physical orientation between vehicles and then using directional information to form clusters of radars, which will have consistent modulation parameters. Radar modulation parameters, such as starting frequency, center frequency, bandwidth, slope, ramp direction, timing, and the like for frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radars, are adjusted to reduce or eliminate inter-cluster direct interference between clusters oriented in different directions. For other types of radars, in some embodiments, other operational parameters can be adjusted. In some embodiments, some modulation parameters also can be adjusted to reduce or eliminate intra-cluster indirect interference.

  • Patent number: 11240814
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to methods and/or apparatuses involving stations (102, 104, 105) participating in wireless station-to-station communications in which each of a plurality of stations shares a wireless communications channel (101). Information is collected wirelessly (102) from transmissions associated with a first communication protocol and from transmissions associated with a second communication protocol. A current communication environment is dynamically discerned therefrom (102), and used to characterize a dynamic relationship of the collected information, which is indicative of respective usage of the wireless communication channel by data transmitted via the respective protocols. Usage of the channel is allocated (102) for respective communications that use the first and second communication protocols based on the dynamic relationship.
