  • Publication number: 20210091889
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to use with communications that may involve repetitive communications. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a subset of symbols in a current data message (130/131) are used with a corresponding subset of symbols in a previous data message (120/121), to ascertain whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This may involve, for instance, generating a resemblance metric to represent semblance between a subset the data symbols of the current data message and a subset the data symbols of the previous data message (102). The resemblance metric can be used in determining whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This approach may be useful, for example, in ascertaining whether the current message is a repetition without necessarily decoding the message.

  • Publication number: 20210092038
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to ascertaining whether data messages are repetitions of a previous data message. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments characterized herein, data packets (130/131) are received (102) and which use a first time delay relative to transmission of a previous data packet (120/121) by a different transmitter. Repetitions (110A/111A) of data packets are also received (102), and which use a second time delay relative to transmission of a previous data packet (110/111) by the same transmitter. The second time delay is less than the first time delay. The received packet is identified (102) as being a repetition of an immediately-previous data packet based on a time delay between the data packet and the immediately-previous data packet, relative to the first and second time delays.

  • Patent number: 10594526
Abstract: A downlink cellular communication signal processing method includes storing resource elements from multiple resource element sequences into multiple sets of consecutive data bins of a composite signal input grid that also includes guard band bins between the sets of data bins. A frequency-domain to time-domain transformation of all values within the composite signal input grid is performed to produce a sequence of time-domain samples (e.g., a portion of an OFDM symbol). The transformation has a number of points equal to or greater than the number of bins in the multiple sets of data bins and the guard band bins. An uplink processing method includes performing a time-domain to frequency-domain transformation on a sequence of time-domain samples to produce resource elements in multiple sets of consecutive data bins of a composite signal output grid that also includes guard band bins between the sets of data bins.

  • Patent number: 10338996
Abstract: A pipelined decoder for storaging of soft bits and hard bits associated with code blocks of a transmission. The proposed circuit reduces the amount of memory needed at the receiver level for soft bits and hard bits, in a pipelined decoder. Namely, with the solution of the subject application, both the LLRs and hard bits associated with a given code block are available when the CRC value is determined. Hence, the effect obtained non-pipelined decoder is achieved by the pipelined decoder of the subject application. A receiver for a wireless communication system, a method and a computer program are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10284410
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to processing signals received from different sources, such as may be relevant to receiving signals having respective time-offsets based upon a distance via which the respective signals travel, and/or due to an oscillator clock mismatch. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, respective fast Fourier transform (FFT) series are generated for symbols in respective ones of communications received in parallel. For each message that the receiver is trying to decode, channel estimation is performed on the respective FFT series, and one of the FFT series is selected based upon metrics indicative of interference in the respective FFT series, for that particular message. A decoding timing window is set based on the selected FFT series, and the selected FFT series is decoded.

  • Patent number: 9900141
Abstract: A receiving apparatus for SNR estimation of a signal such as the LTE PUCCH, transmitted over a channel of an OFDM wireless communication system. The proposed apparatus brings determines the noise power level in the frequency domain based on a noise covariance matrix where timing errors are back compensated in the equation since timing error is expressed a complex exponential therein. Contrary to the common methods used for determining the noise power level, in the present invention deriving the channel estimate components from the pilot symbol(s) comprised in the received signal is not required. Based on the present invention, user's transmit power is reduced thereby improving battery power longevity. Further, since interference is reduced, more users may be multiplexed together in the same resources. A method and a computer program product are also claimed.

  • Patent number: 9756592
Abstract: A telecommunication receiver is arranged for receiving related data originating from multiple antennas, which data have different times of arrival due to, for example, different delays. The receiver comprises an input buffer for buffering data, a transform unit for Fourier transforming the data received from the input buffer into transformed data, and an output buffer for buffering the transformed data received from the transform unit. The input buffer is arranged for passing each set of data items to the transform unit when the relevant data item has been received in the input buffer, while the transform unit is arranged for removing redundant parts of the data. In addition, the output buffer is arranged for synchronizing the transformed data. Thus the buffering for delay compensation is carried out in the output buffer.

  • Patent number: 9590757
Abstract: An equalizer for equalizing a composite signal originating from a given number of simultaneous data streams able to be received over a communication channel, on a given number of antennas, at one or more radio units, in a wireless communication system. The equalizer performs matrix operations when the number of receiving antennas associated with the composite signal is lower than the number of antennas supported by the equalizer. The channel matrix and the signal and interference covariance matrices are manipulated. The antenna dimension is increased, padding is then added and the transmitted signal vector is finally determined based on the altered matrices. A baseband processing unit, a method and a computer program are also claimed.

  • Patent number: 9350586
Abstract: A signal decoder in a communication system is for decoding signal elements in a communication signal having interleaved carrier frequencies. The decoder receives antenna signals in a frequency domain, and has a multiplier for multiplying the antenna signals by a complex-valued mathematical sequence such as the Zadoff-Chu sequence, to generate multiplied antenna signals. An inverse frequency to time converter converts the multiplied antenna signals to time domain signals. A signal quality detector detects a signal quality from the time domain signals based on a subset of the carrier frequencies. The complex-valued mathematical sequence is provided with zero values corresponding to carrier frequencies that are not included in the subset, and the inverse frequency to time converter has a transform size corresponding to the multiplied antenna signals including all carrier frequencies.
