  • Publication number: 20180046805
Abstract: Various features relate to the providing Software-Resilient User Privacy within smartphones or other devices by storing and processing all pertinent values needed for user privacy—such as security keys and access attempt counters—in hardware, such as within a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) processor formed on an integrated circuit (IC). For example, an on-die ephemeral Volatile Memory (eVM) device may be employed for storing access attempt counters or other parameters used to control malicious attack countermeasures. In one example, the eVM employs static random-access memory (SRAM) formed on the die and exploits capacitive remanence to recover stored counter values even if power is disconnected, then reconnected. On-chip NVM may be used for permanent storage of other privacy values, such as a device-unique secret key that is generated locally on the device and not known to the chip vendor, the device Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)) or the owner/user of the device.

  • Patent number: 9756592
Abstract: A telecommunication receiver is arranged for receiving related data originating from multiple antennas, which data have different times of arrival due to, for example, different delays. The receiver comprises an input buffer for buffering data, a transform unit for Fourier transforming the data received from the input buffer into transformed data, and an output buffer for buffering the transformed data received from the transform unit. The input buffer is arranged for passing each set of data items to the transform unit when the relevant data item has been received in the input buffer, while the transform unit is arranged for removing redundant parts of the data. In addition, the output buffer is arranged for synchronizing the transformed data. Thus the buffering for delay compensation is carried out in the output buffer.

  • Patent number: 9590757
Abstract: An equalizer for equalizing a composite signal originating from a given number of simultaneous data streams able to be received over a communication channel, on a given number of antennas, at one or more radio units, in a wireless communication system. The equalizer performs matrix operations when the number of receiving antennas associated with the composite signal is lower than the number of antennas supported by the equalizer. The channel matrix and the signal and interference covariance matrices are manipulated. The antenna dimension is increased, padding is then added and the transmitted signal vector is finally determined based on the altered matrices. A baseband processing unit, a method and a computer program are also claimed.

  • Publication number: 20160294456
Abstract: A receiving apparatus for SNR estimation of a signal such as the LTE PUCCH, transmitted over a channel of an OFDM wireless communication system. The proposed apparatus brings determines the noise power level in the frequency domain based on a noise covariance matrix where timing errors are back compensated in the equation since timing error is expressed a complex exponential therein. Contrary to the common methods used for determining the noise power level, in the present invention deriving the channel estimate components from the pilot symbol(s) comprised in the received signal is not required. Based on the present invention, user's transmit power is reduced thereby improving battery power longevity. Further, since interference is reduced, more users may be multiplexed together in the same resources. A method and a computer program product are also claimed.

  • Publication number: 20160218830
Abstract: A pipelined decoder for storaging of soft bits and hard bits associated with code blocks of a transmission. The proposed circuit reduces the amount of memory needed at the receiver level for soft bits and hard bits, in a pipelined decoder. Namely, with the solution of the subject application, both the LLRs and hard bits associated with a given code block are available when the CRC value is determined. Hence, the effect obtained non-pipelined decoder is achieved by the pipelined decoder of the subject application. • Patent number: 9350586
Abstract: A signal decoder in a communication system is for decoding signal elements in a communication signal having interleaved carrier frequencies. The decoder receives antenna signals in a frequency domain, and has a multiplier for multiplying the antenna signals by a complex-valued mathematical sequence such as the Zadoff-Chu sequence, to generate multiplied antenna signals. An inverse frequency to time converter converts the multiplied antenna signals to time domain signals. A signal quality detector detects a signal quality from the time domain signals based on a subset of the carrier frequencies. The complex-valued mathematical sequence is provided with zero values corresponding to carrier frequencies that are not included in the subset, and the inverse frequency to time converter has a transform size corresponding to the multiplied antenna signals including all carrier frequencies.

  • Patent number: 9246721
Abstract: A digital up-converter (DUC) circuit for performing digital channel filtering of an incoming baseband digital signal. The proposed circuit reduces the complexity of the channel module filter of the DUC. This is achieved by taking advantage of the structure of the underlying symbol waveforms carried by the incoming baseband digital signal which have one or more known discontinuities comprising random amplitude and/or phase. Namely, the channel filter module is activated only for the digital samples located around the known discontinuities and is deactivated for the remaining digital samples. Further, the switching of the channel filter module from one state to another can be performed according to a smooth function so that further discontinuities are not introduced in the incoming baseband digital signal. A method and a computer program are also disclosed.
