  • Publication number: 20150261965
Abstract: One feature pertains to encrypting data to improve data confidentiality. In one aspect, a modified form of XTS encryption is provided for use with reduced-round block ciphers. A data unit index of data to be applied to the reduced-round cipher is encrypted under a secret key to generate or otherwise obtain a modified secret key for applying to the reduced-round cipher. That is, data to be encrypted by the reduced-round cipher is not encrypted under a static key but is instead encrypted under a dynamic key that varies according to the index of the data. If an attacker were to derive the value of the key applied to the reduced-round cipher by analyzing data encrypted by the cipher, the attacker would only obtain the dynamic key corresponding to one particular data unit index, rather than a global static key applied to an entire address space. Decryption procedures are also described.

  • Publication number: 20150093293
Abstract: The present invention provides for a filter system having a catalyst filter configured for placement in a filter housing. The catalyst filter has a first band and a second band of material. Each band has a length of material extending in a longitudinal direction. Each band has a first wall and a second wall, each wall facing in an opposite direction from the other wall. A portion of each first wall is coated with a catalyst material, which receives light emitted by a light source to break down contaminants passing in air through the housing and over the catalyst material. Each of the first and second bands extends continuously along its longitudinal axis traversing the catalyst filter without being intersected by other structure of the catalyst filter. The first and second bands of material diverge relative to each other across the catalyst filter. The first wall of each band is optically exposed to light from the light source.

  • Patent number: 8867741
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for field level encryption of a document that provides a hardcopy having redacted sensitive information fields with multiple levels of access and an augmented reality view of the hardcopy displaying the unredacted sensitive information fields. Identification of the sensitive information fields may be accomplished via highlight color, user designation, or linguistic analysis. The identified fields are encrypted and may be stored separately, embedded in place, or embedded in a two-dimensional glyph. This information may be stored in association with a device identification of an authenticated mobile device and a document identification. A redacted hardcopy of the original document is output. A mobile device captures an image of the redacted hardcopy, decrypts the encrypted sensitive information fields, and generates an augmented reality view of the hardcopy with the previously redacted sensitive information fields visible on the display of the mobile device.
