  • Publication number: 20210092788
Abstract: A method for controlling bearers in a core network includes receiving, from a user equipment (UE) device, a request for access to network resources, where the core network is coupled with a primary radio access technology (RAT) and a secondary RAT. The method includes determining an access point name (APN) RAT access restriction in response to the received request, where the APN RAT access restriction associates an APN with a corresponding RAT, where the corresponding RAT comprises at least one of the primary RAT or the secondary RAT. The method also includes assigning a radio bearer based on the determined APN RAT access restriction, wherein the assigned radio bearer exchanges data via the corresponding RAT; and identifying, to a master node, the assigned radio bearer for exchanging data between the UE device and a device specified by the APN via the corresponding RAT.

  • Publication number: 20210083965
Abstract: Systems and methods manage lookups for network repository functions (NRFs). A network device, such as a NRF, receives a discovery request for a network function instance in a wireless core network. The discovery request includes a hop limit value. The network device determines if a result for the discovery request is available and determines if the hop limit value is greater than a stop value, when the result for the discovery request is not available. The network device forwards the discovery request to another network device when the result for the discovery request is not available and when the hop limit value is greater than the stop value. The network device sends a terminal response to the discovery request when the hop limit value is not greater than the stop value.

  • Patent number: 10798562
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein enable differentiated policy enforcement for dual connectivity split bearer scenarios. A wireless station receives, from a core network associated with the wireless station, downlink packets directed to an end device that is using a dual-connectivity split bearer. The wireless station directs delivery of the downlink packets over different radio access networks (RANs) of the dual-connectivity split bearer. The wireless station logs a radio access technology (RAT)-type used to deliver each of the downlink packets and sends, based on the logging, a downlink RAT-type feedback report to a network device in the core network. The wireless station receives uplink packets from the end device using the dual-connectivity split bearer, marks each of the uplink packets with a RAT-type indicator, and forwards the marked packets to the network device in the core network.

  • Patent number: 10764143
Abstract: A system in wireless core network obtains a group policy to support background data transfer for a group of user equipment (UEs) associated with a common network area identifier. The system maps the network area identifier to one or more of a mobility management entity (MME) device and a packet data network gateway (PGW) device. The system generates a configuration command to enforce the group policy by the one or more of the MME device or the PGW device and configures, based on the configuration command, the one or more of the MME device or the PGW device to enforce the group policy.
