  • Publication number: 20080076165
Abstract: A method for producing sophorolipids having protein inducer and/or repressor activities having the steps of synthesizing the sophorolipid by fermentation of Candida bombicola in a fermentation media to form a natural mixture of lactonic sophorolipids and non-lactonic sophorolipids and then utilizing the natural mixture as a protein inducing agent, utilizing the natural mixture as a protein repressing agent, and/or utilizing the natural mixture as a combined protein induction/repressor agent. An application of the sophorolipid compound produced according to the method as a microbial media component.

  • Publication number: 20080041794
Abstract: Methods of decontaminating water, catalysts therefor and methods of making catalysts for decontaminating water to neutralize contaminants including organic and non-organic contaminants, such as aromatic compounds and microorganisms, e.g. bacteria. A heterogeneous catalyst is formed by incubating a polymeric resin with a transition metal-salt solution, e.g. a CuSO4 solution. The contaminated water is treated by immersing the resulting heterogeneous catalyst in the contaminated water with hydrogen peroxide.

  • Publication number: 20050244617
Abstract: A method is disclosed for manufacturing a multi-part component that dampens vibration and noise caused by forces acting on the component. A pre-formed first part is treated for application of a resilient material. The material is dissolved in a solvent and is selectively applied to areas of the first part that are subject to strong forces. A second part is mechanically attached to the first part, and the entire component is cured so that the resilient material is cured, the solvent is evaporated and the parts are bonded together.
