Publication number: 20150088611Abstract: A passive measuring technique and system processes and analyzes imprecisely reported location estimates collected from a plurality of mobile devices. The number and socio-demographic composition of persons within defined areas of interest are estimated over time. Each mobile device is assigned to a group and identified by an anonymized identifier, and the identifiers of devices within each group are refreshed on a rolling basis to further enhance privacy. A statistical weighting approach is applied so that each device represents a fraction of the population and socio-demographic profile of one or more segmentation districts. Users requesting a defined area of interest via a communication network receive an estimate—derived by modeling respectively anonymized mobile devices within an area of interest over a selectable time period as corresponding, statistically weighted devices—of the number and socio-demographic profile of all persons within the area of interest over the selectable time period.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2013Publication date: March 26, 2015Inventors: Hendrik Wagenseil, Markus Ziegler, Volker Bosch

Patent number: 8922164Abstract: An equipment system includes a battery unit (10) having a monitoring circuit (14), which detects at least one operating parameter of the battery unit (10) and furnishes a control signal, dependent on the operating parameter, for switching means (25, 31). The switching means control the charging and discharging process of the battery unit (10) and are located in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. From the battery unit (10), the control signal is transmitted to the switching means (25, 31) in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. By this provision of shifting the switching means (25, 31) out of the battery unit (10) into the electrical device (20) and into the charger (30), respectively, the heat development in the battery unit (10) and also its structure size are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2012Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Arnim Fiebig, Hans-Joachim Baur, Guenther Lohr, Stefan Roepke, Rainer Glauning, Volker Bosch

Patent number: 8618760Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical machine and to a method for the operation thereof, particularly as a drive motor for an electrical tool or as starter generator for a motor vehicle. The electrical machine includes a rotor excited by a permanent magnet and a stator carrying a multi-phase winding, and operates in a voltage-controlled, lower rotational speed range via a transformer on a DC voltage source. The electrical machine can also be operated in a higher rotational speed range by field weakening, and the structure of the machine can be changed by reducing the flux linkage between the rotor and the stator in order to weaken the field. Preferably, the change to the structure of the machine is carried out by turning off winding parts or by switching them between series and parallel connections.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2008Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Volker Bosch, Kurt Reutlinger

Publication number: 20130066814Abstract: Representative sample pages from websites accessible to Internet users are manually selected and classified into pre-defined categories based on page content to create a training set as an input to a classifier. An automated analysis is performed to identify a list of catchwords comprising the most frequently referenced words, tags, and/or links from the classified samples in each category in the training set. A data mining tool generates unique sets of distinctive catchwords and/or distinctive combinations of catchwords that have a high probability of appearing only in a single one of the pre-defined content categories. The classifier utilizes the sets of distinctive catchwords/combinations to classify new pages into one or more of the pre-defined content categories.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventors: Volker Bosch, Yves Marie LeMaitre
