  • Patent number: 6924624
Abstract: A battery unit including a battery (3) is equipped with a monitoring circuit (9) for detecting and evaluating operating variables related to charge state of the battery (3). So that energy is not drawn from the battery (3) by its own monitoring circuit (9) when an external load (2) powered by the battery unit is shut off, the supply of electrical power to the monitoring circuit (9) in the battery unit is disconnected, either immediately or after a certain time delay, when the load (2) is shut off. This slows the discharge of the battery (3) when it is not supplying electrical to the load (2).

  • Patent number: 6803690
Abstract: The electric motor with permanent-magnet excitation has a stator (1), a rotor (7) supported inside the stator and adjacent permanent magnets (8, 9, 10, 11) of opposite polarity arranged next to each other on a rotor surface facing the stator. The rotor (7) has cavities (16, 17, 18, 19) arranged within a rotor interior and indentations (12, 13, 14, 15) in the rotor surface, which are arranged so that radially oriented magnetic flux lines are not interrupted by the cavities and indentations, but magnetic flux lines oriented tangentially to the rotor surface are interrupted by the cavities and indentations so that a magnetic short circuit is formed. These indentations and cavities reduce the rotor heat capacity so that a layer of a magnetic material that forms the permanent magnets (8, 9, 10, 11) can be sprayed onto the rotor surface.

The support element (12) has at least one heat-conducting element (18), which thermally connects the component (10) with the cooling body (22, 24).

  • Publication number: 20030151324
Abstract: The rotor (7) of an electric motor is provided, on its surface and/or in its interior, with recesses (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19), which are placed and dimensioned such that they do not interrupt lines of the magnetic flux that are oriented radially to the surface of the rotor (7) and form a short circuit via the rotor (7). These recesses reduce the thermal capacity of the rotor (7) to such an extent that a layer of a magnetic material that forms a plurality of permanent magnets (8, 9, 10, 11) can be sprayed onto the surface of the rotor (7).

  • Publication number: 20030141844
Abstract: An equipment system includes a battery unit (10) having a monitoring circuit (14), which detects at least one operating parameter of the battery unit (10) and furnishes a control signal, dependent on the operating parameter, for switching means (25, 31). The switching means control the charging and discharging process of the battery unit (10) and are located in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. From the battery unit (10), the control signal is transmitted to the switching means (25, 31) in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. By this provision of shifting the switching means (25, 31) out of the battery unit (10) into the electrical device (20) and into the charger (30), respectively, the heat development in the battery unit (10) and also its structure size are reduced.
