  • Patent number: 4750719
Abstract: A two-chamber engine mount with hydraulic damping includes a cup-shaped housing having a cylindrical wall with an inner surface and a given height, an open upper end and a bottom. A frustoconical rubber-elastic bearing spring with inner and outer surfaces, a base region and substantially the given height is disposed in the housing. An engine mount plate is supported on the bearing spring. A flexible-volume, rubber-elastic diaphragm closes off the open upper end of the cylindrical wall. The inner surface of the support spring and the bottom of the housing defines a working chamber and the outer surface of the bearing spring, the inner surface of the cylindrical wall and the diaphragm defines a compensating chamber. The base region of the bearing spring has a transfer port formed therein interconnecting the working chamber and the compensating chamber.

  • Patent number: 4645614
Abstract: The electroviscous suspension is based on a mixture of aqueous silica gel with silicone oil as the liquid phase to which a dispersant is added. The dispersant consists of amino functional or silicon-functional polysiloxanes having a molecular weight above 800. The concentration of the dispersant is from 1 to 30% by weight and preferably from 5 to 20% by weight, based on the silica gel particles. Electroviscous suspensions such as these are distinguished by the fact that they are highly compatible with elastomeric materials, non-sedimenting, non-inflammable and physiologically acceptable. In addition, they are heat- and freeze-resistant over a wide temperature range and are largely unaffected by temperature and pressure in their viscosity.

  • Patent number: 4618128
Abstract: The invention relates to a two-chamber engine bearing, in particular for motor vehicles, which has hydraulic damping, the liquid-filled chambers of which have rubber elastic peripheral walls and are connected to each other by a line which is provided in the rigid, elastically-mounted intermediate plate. To improve the damping, the intermediate plate has, according to the invention, an extended cavity which has an approximately rectangular longitudinal cross-section in the area of the middle plane thereof, the length and width of the cavity being many times its height and the cavity being connected to the upper chamber at one end by a vertical passage and connected to the lower chamber at the other end by a corresponding passage.

  • Patent number: 4572002
Abstract: In order to determine the fatigue limit of elastic materials, especially rubber, under completely reversed stress by applying a load which alternates between zero and a maximum value and in order to determine the number of load alternations which leads to the breaking of the material, a plurality of strip-shaped rubber samples are clamped between two stationary clamping beams and a rocker. The rocker is approximately parallel to the beams and is moved at one end thereof by means of a crank mechanism. The rubber samples are each positioned parallel to one another in at least one row and are alternately stretched and relaxed to a different extent, depending on their spacing from the fulcrum of the rocker.
