  • Patent number: 8645172
Abstract: This document describes a computer-implemented method for facilitating a check-in finalization process for a travel passenger. The method includes receiving one or more check-in parameters related to a check-in procedure for a passenger checking in for a travel segment, and determining from the received check-in parameters a check-in workflow status corresponding to which of a plurality of steps of the check-in procedure have been completed. The method also includes identifying one or more finalization actions that are available for finalizing the check-in procedure based on the check-in workflow status. The method further includes determining a primary finalization action from the one or more finalization actions, the primary finalization action being the finalization action most likely to be taken to finalize the check-in procedure.

  • Publication number: 20140000782
Abstract: An elastic-applicator for applying an elastic element onto a layer of material includes a disc pair and a drive unit for driving the two discs of the disc pair, wherein the discs of the disc pair and the drive units are configured for operation with different speeds is to enable a reliable and uniform application of an elastic element onto a layer web in a most simple manner and at the same time is to be capable to apply elastic elements of different sizes or lengths and stretch coefficients especially easily and in particular without cumbersome retrofitting work. For this, at least one disc of the disc pair has a number of sheath-side circumferential suction openings.

  • Publication number: 20120280292
Abstract: A semiconductor device and a method for fabricating the semiconductor device. The device includes: a doped semiconductor having a source region, a drain region, a channel between the source and drain regions, and an extension region between the channel and each of the source and drain regions; a gate formed on the channel; and a screening coating on each of the extension regions. The screening coating includes: (i) an insulating layer that has a dielectric constant that is no greater than about half that of the extension regions and is formed directly on the extension regions, and (ii) a screening layer on the insulating layer, where the screening layer screens the dopant ionization potential in the extension regions to inhibit dopant deactivation.

  • Publication number: 20120240372
Abstract: A fastener extraction device includes a body configured for attachment to a power driver tool, and allows a rotating chuck provided thereby to extend therethrough. The extraction device includes a plurality of spring-biased grasping arms that are pivotably attached to the body and are moved between opened and closed positions by an automated actuation collar that is in operative engagement with the grasping arms. The automated actuation collar includes collar magnets that are in operative communication with electromagnets that are controlled by a push button provided by the driver tool. Thus, the automated actuation collar allows the grasping arms to be selectively opened and closed in a convenient manner, allowing fasteners to be extracted without the operator having to change or release his or her grip of the driver tool.

  • Publication number: 20120144637
Abstract: A fastener extraction device includes a body configured for attachment to a power driver tool, and allows a rotating chuck provided thereby to extend therethrough. The extraction device includes a plurality of spring-biased grasping arms that are pivotably attached to the body and are moved between opened and closed positions by a actuation collar that is in operative engagement with the grasping arms. When the grasping arms are moved to a closed position, the extraction guides form an extraction aperture around the shank of the fastener below its head, allowing the operator to pull on the fastener using the leverage of the power driver tool to extract it from a surface in which it is embedded. Once the fastener is extracted, the actuation collar is rotated, so as to allow the grasping arms to move to an open position, whereupon the extraction guides release the fastener.

  • Patent number: 8195972
Abstract: Synchronous circuitry for processing digital data in which the data are filtered to compensate for expected jitter in time-average frequency clock signals. Time-average frequency synthesis circuitry generates internal clock signals of a desired frequency, for example as based on a recovered clock signal from an input data stream, in a manner in which not all periods of the clock signal are of uniform duration. A jitter precorrection filter is inserted into the data path to apply a variable delay to pre-correct for distortion caused by jitter in the clock cycle. In embodiments of the invention using a flying-adder architecture to generate the clock signal, coefficients of the digital filer realizing the jitter precorrection filter are calculated according to the currently-selected oscillator phase and according to a fractional portion of a digital frequency control word.

  • Patent number: 7947580
Abstract: A method for the fabrication of a semiconductor structure that includes areas that have different crystalline orientation and semiconductor structure formed thereby. The disclosed method allows fabrication of a semiconductor structure that has areas of different semiconducting materials. The method employs templated crystal growth using a Vapor-Liquid-Solid (VLS) growth process. A silicon semiconductor substrate having a first crystal orientation direction is etched to have an array of holes into its surface. A separation layer is formed on the inner surface of the hole for appropriate applications. A growth catalyst is placed at the bottom of the hole and a VLS crystal growth process is initiated to form a nanowire. The resultant nanowire crystal has a second different crystal orientation which is templated by the geometry of the hole.
