  • Patent number: 9237491
Abstract: A relay node for a radio access network, arranged to be a relay node between one or more User Equipments in a cell of the radio access network and a base station serving the cell. The relay node is arranged to identify itself as a relay node in the cell in the radio access network, and is also arranged to receive a non-support indication indicating that the base station serving the cell is unable to support a relay node. The relay node is arranged to, upon receiving said non-support indication, attempt to establish itself as a relay node in another cell.

  • Publication number: 20160007222
Abstract: The invention provides a method and a network node for controlling configuration of measurements to be performed by a user equipment (150a, 150b) operating in a wireless communication system (101). A configured measurement corresponds to at least one reporting criteria and the user equipment (150a, 150b) is able to support a limited number of parallel reporting criteria. Measurements to be performed by the user equipment in parallel may be requested by different network nodes such as a positioning server (140) and an eNodeB (110a, 110b). By letting a network node, such as the positioning server (140) or the (eNodeB 110a, 110b), obtain information on measurements requested by another network node the network node is able to configure the user equipment with a set of measurements that does not exceed at least one predetermined threshold for parallel reporting criteria.

  • Publication number: 20150358883
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns movements, such as handovers, of user equipments (UEs) 120a-e from one radio cell 130a to another radio cell 130b. Disclosed herein are methods as well radio network nodes 110a, 110b. A radio network node 110a, 110b may, for example, select the most suitable UE(s) 20a-e to move from a source radio cell 130a to a target radio cell 130b in case the traffic load in the source radio cell 130a is below or equal to the traffic load of the target radio cell 130b. Hereby it is made possible to improve the resource utilization.

  • Publication number: 20150327054
Abstract: Systems and methods relating to reconfiguration of a Carrier Aggregation (CA) enabled wireless device using a measurement gap are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a CA enabled wireless device in a cellular communications network comprises reconfiguring the wireless device during a measurement gap such that the wireless device is enabled to receive a first set of one or more carriers after the measurement gap that are different than a second set of one or more carriers that the wireless device was receiving before the measurement gap. In some embodiments, the reconfiguration of the wireless device during the measurement gap enables reconfiguration of the wireless device for measurements on a Secondary Component Carrier (SCC) of a configured and deactivated Secondary Cell (SCell) of the wireless device without serving cell interruption.

  • Publication number: 20150304875
Abstract: According to one aspect of the teachings herein, a wireless device operating in a wireless communication network determines the difference in signal arrival times with respect to first and second cells, and the device and/or the involved wireless communication network uses the difference to control one or more aspects of Carrier Aggregation, CA, operation for the wireless device. For example, there may be a maximum timing difference defined for the wireless device, e.g., as a function of its inherent capabilities, and the wireless device may evaluate the timing difference of a second cell that is a candidate of aggregation into its CA configuration, or that may be a candidate for activation as a serving cell within a CA configuration, with respect to a first cell that is already in use as a serving cell for the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20150296522
Abstract: Methods and operations in mobile terminals and base stations are disclosed which control uplink signaling. A method in a mobile terminal controls uplink signaling to a base station, and includes receiving a MAC CE from the base station. The MAC CE indicates whether at least one of SRS or CQI reports should be transmitted for one or more serving cells configured for the mobile terminal. Transmission of at least one of the SRS or the CQI reports for the one or more serving cells from the mobile terminal to the base station is selectively activated and deactivated responsive to the MAC CE. Related methods and operations by base stations and mobile terminals are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9148799
Abstract: A wireless terminal (30) capable of operating in a discontinuous mode and method for operation facilitate measurements pertaining to position of the wireless terminal (30). A measurement request message from a radio access network (28) indicates that measurements are to be performed by the wireless terminal on downlink signals transmitted by the base station or by the base station on downlink signals transmitted by the base station. As a result of or after receiving the message, operation of the wireless terminal (30) changes from a discontinuous mode to a modified mode to facilitate performance of the measurements. Relative to the discontinuous mode at least one of following are shortened or eliminated in the modified mode: (i) the non-reception periods, and (ii) the non-transmission periods.

  • Publication number: 20150257025
Abstract: Measurement handling is of interest in a user equipment (UE) in connected mode, with the UE being configured with multiple downlink component carriers (CCs). The UE evaluates the signal quality of a specific CC of the configured CCs against a configurable threshold to determine the need for neighbor cell measurements. The UE performs neighbor cell measurements if the signal quality of the specific CC is below the configurable threshold. In this way, robust and efficient measurement handling is provided, even though the UE is configured with multiple component carriers.
