    Abstract: A castor includes a suspension unit, a castor body, a wheel unit, and a brake unit. The suspension unit includes an upright fixing bolt and a locking member. The wheel unit includes two rollers. The brake unit includes a positioning block, a sliding block, a biasing members, a drive member, and a braking pin. Thus, when the drive member of the brake unit is pressed, each of the rollers of the wheel unit is braked by and locked onto the castor body, and the castor body is locked onto the fixing bolt simultaneously, thereby locking the castor exactly and stably.

Each of the PMOS gate structures includes a PMOS source region and a PMOS drain region. The NMOS gate structures are formed on P-type well regions and the PMOS gate structures are formed on N-type well regions. An interlayer dielectric layer is overlying each of the gate structures while filling a gap between two or more of the NMOS gate structures.

    Abstract: A shallow trench isolation structure for integrated circuits. The structure includes a semiconductor substrate and a buffered oxide layer overlying the semiconductor substrate. A pad nitride layer is overlying the buffered oxide layer. An implanted region is formed around a perimeter of the trench region. A trench region is formed within the semiconductor substrate. The trench region has a bottom width of less than 0.13 microns and an upper width of less than 0.13 microns. A rounded edge region is within a portion of the semiconductor substrate surrounding a periphery of the trench region. The rounded edges have a radius of curvature greater than about 0.02 um. A planarized high density plasma fill material is formed within the trench region. The structure has a P-well region within the semiconductor substrate and bordering a vicinity of the trench region. A channel region is within the P-well region within the semiconductor substrate.

The reflective region includes a polarization dependent reflector for reflecting ambient light. The reflective and transmissive regions include an initially homogeneously aligned liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a first and a second substrate. Each pixel further includes at least one first transparent electrode as the common electrode and at least one second transparent electrode as the pixel electrode both formed on one of the same first and second substrates, wherein substantial fringe fields with rich horizontal electric fields are generated in the liquid crystal layer when voltage is applied to the pixel electrode, making the liquid crystal molecules rotate mainly in the horizontal direction to achieve wide viewing angle.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate having a first electrode and a first alignment film, a second substrate having a second electrode and a second alignment film, and a liquid crystal layer having liquid crystal molecules between the first and second substrates. The liquid crystal layer is doped with a chiral material that tends to induce a twist in directors of the liquid crystal molecules when an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer using the first and second electrodes. The first alignment film has a first alignment direction, the second alignment film has a second alignment direction, and the first and second alignment films have orientations that tend to induce a twist in the directors when an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer, in which the direction of twist induced by the first and second alignment films is different from the direction of twist induced by the chiral material.

    Abstract: A transflective display includes pixels each including a reflective (R) sub-pixel, a transmissive (T) sub-pixel, and electrodes having features to cause multiple domains to form in a liquid crystal layer of the R sub-pixel and the T sub-pixel. The electrodes in the R sub-pixels have features that are different from features of the electrodes in the T sub-pixel to cause the liquid crystal layer in the R sub-pixel to have an optical phase retardation that is between 20% to 80% of an optical phase retardation of the liquid crystal layer in the T sub-pixel. The R sub-pixel and the T sub-pixel have substantially the same cell gap and are driven by the same pixel voltage.

A liquid crystal display configuration can include two stacked circular polarizers, each having a linear polarizer, a half-wave plate and a quarter-wave plate wherein two linear polarizers are crossed to each other, two half-wave plates are made of uniaxial A plates with opposite optical birefringence (one positive and one negative type), and two quarter-wave plates are made of uniaxial A plates with opposite optical birefringence (one positive and one negative type). The configurations can generate wide viewing angles and broadband properties and are suitable for display applications that require circular polarizers.

A dielectric layer is between the first and second electrodes in one of the reflective region and the transmissive region, the dielectric layer configured such that when a pixel voltage is applied to the first and second electrodes, the percentage of the pixel voltage applied across the first portion of the liquid crystal layer is different from the percentage of the pixel voltage applied across the second portion of the liquid crystal layer.
