  • Publication number: 20080229666
Abstract: A gate opener has a slide gate panel that slides between an open position and a closed position in order to control passage through the gate. A support plate has a lower spindle support and an upper spindle support and is secured to the ground in appropriate fashion. A motor assembly is rotatably disposed between the lower spindle support and the upper spindle support and has a sprocket operationally attached thereto. When the bidirectional motor within the motor assembly is operational, the sprocket, which directly gearably meshes with a drive rack gear on the gate, rotates causing the gate to slide back or forth. A magnetic reed switch on the sprocket, support plate or control box, senses the presence of a magnet located on either end of the gate deactivates the motor reverse its direction for the next cycle.

  • Patent number: 7367287
Abstract: The animal control apparatus has a hollow cylindrical tube with a first and second end. A handle is attached to the first tube end. A cable within the tube has a first end with a cable movement member. The spring has a first and second end, and a spring stop and a spring compression plate are formed in the tube. There is a top end cap and a bottom end cap. The bottom end cap has a first and second pivot point, a first and a second clasp arms are attached to the first and second pivot points. The clasp arm movement means is attached to the cable second end and interacts with the first and second clasp arms to open and close the arms. The clasp arm movement means can be t-shaped, and have a central arm attached to the cable and a pair of opposed engagement arms, with pins that extend outwardly from the engagement arms and engage slots in the clasp arms.

  • Patent number: 7367161
Abstract: A gate opener has a gate that rotates between an open and a closed position in order to allow or retard ingress and egress through the gate. A plate is secured to the ground while a motor is secured to a post of the gate and is rotatably secured to the plate. Activation of the motor causes the post to rotate and thereby swing the gate open. Subsequent activation of the motor causes the post to counterrotate and thereby swing the gate closed. Appropriate limit switches delimit the arc of travel of the gate.

  • Patent number: 7299896
Abstract: An elevator system includes a hoistway having a plurality of hoistway doors. An elevator car and counterweight are provided in the hoistway. A drive motor is drivingly coupled to the elevator car and counterweight, and is located adjacent to either the top or bottom portion of a hoistway door so as to eliminate the need to provide a machine room above the hoistway ceiling.

  • Patent number: 7282254
Abstract: A bi- or multi-layer coating is deposited upon a substrate using a low temperature process. The bi-layer is a lower layer of a SAM coating, which is overlaid with a hard coating. The hard coating can be made of materials such as: polymer, Si3N4, BN, TiN, SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, YSZ, and other ceramic materials, and the underlying, compliant, SAM coating can comprise substances containing long chain molecules that chemically bond to the substrate. This bi-layer provides both environmental and hermetical protection to electronic hardware and MEMS systems, without employing expensive packaging materials and processes. Multiple bi-layers may be combined to form multi-layer coatings. A protective polymer or other material may optionally be formed as an outside layer.

  • Publication number: 20050283305
Abstract: A system and method are provided for the efficient entry and display of ground taxi routes on an electronic airport map display. The system may include a touchscreen entry device, a display device, a computer, a map database, a vehicle position sensor and a transmitter/receiver. The system may be configured to check the ground taxi entries to ensure that each successive segment is contiguous with the last or next segment, and any gaps or discontinuities in the displayed taxi instructions may be annunciated. An intelligent display of next possible segments may be incorporated into the system.

  • Patent number: 6873680
Abstract: A digital radiography apparatus (10) and process for providing images of an object, for example, an exhaust transition duct (12) comprising a core material and an overlying thermal barrier layer, to detect surface and interior defects within the duct (12). Incident energy is provided by an energy source (30), transmitted through the object (12), and sensed by a sensor (32). An image of the object (12) is formed by processing the signal from the sensor (32) in a signal processor (34) and displaying the image on a display (36) for determining defects in the object (12).

  • Publication number: 20030196942
Abstract: A Process and Interface to reduce the energy required to operate a swimming pool pump. The process improves the conventional process by causing the pump to vary its operation based on variable filter loading conditions. The process uses a flow sensor to send a signal to the interface which then signals a variable frequency drive to increase or decrease the speed of the pump motor in compliance with user programmed flow. The pump operates at reduced energy until the filter load increases due to captured debris. As the filter load increases, the pump speed increases.

  • Patent number: 6498323
Abstract: A cooking apparatus including a housing having an interior which contains a heating device. The cooking apparatus includes a liner which is preferably made of metallic material with a bowl which may be removably placed therein to cook food. The heating device is a heating band which has downwardly extending foot members to prevent the heating element from contacting the floor of the housing to prevent hot spots and inadvertent burning of a users hand.

  • Patent number: 6083811
Abstract: Thin dice of fragile material are formed by making saw cuts in a front surface of a body of fragile material. The saw cuts define the thin dice, and have a depth equal to the desired thickness of the thin dice plus about 1 mil. A support film is then applied to the front surface of the body of fragile material. Using conventional equipment, the back surface of the body of fragile material, opposite the front surface, is ground. The grinding operation reduces the thickness of the body to the desired thickness for the thin dice. Due to the depth of the saw cuts, the grinding process exposes these saw cuts creating the individual thin dice having the desired thickness.
