Patent number: 9053692Abstract: An electronic musical instrument whose operation is similar to a harmonica, and which can be played easily by anyone familiar with a harmonica. The instrument measures positive or negative pressure at the mouthpiece, with a MEMS (Micro-electro-mechanical system) pressure sensor, which produces an electronic signal, which is then converted to pre-sampled sounds of a variety of instruments via an on-board synthesizer, and is capable of sending MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) signals to control other electronic musical instruments or devices.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2012Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Inventors: Wayne Richard Read, Deidre Hebert

Patent number: 9015302Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a network. Signals are received from a plurality of time sources. A signal having a desired level of accuracy is selected from the signals. A reference time in the network is established using the signal. Data to be transmitted through the network is encrypted to form encrypted data. The encrypted data includes a number of encrypted headers and an encrypted body. A next node in the network is identified based on a destination for the encrypted data. A request is generated to reserve a number of time intervals for transmitting the encrypted data to the next node through the network. The encrypted data is transmitted in the network during the number of time intervals responsive to receiving an approval for the request from the next node.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2011Date of Patent: April 21, 2015Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventor: Wayne Richard Howe

Patent number: 8775916Abstract: Technology for testing a target recognition, analysis, and tracking system is provided. A searchable repository of recorded and synthesized depth clips and associated ground truth tracking data is provided. Data in the repository is used by one or more processing devices each including at least one instance of a target recognition, analysis, and tracking pipeline to analyze performance of the tracking pipeline. An analysis engine provides at least a subset of the searchable set responsive to a request to test the pipeline and receives tracking data output from the pipeline on the at least subset of the searchable set. A report generator outputs an analysis of the tracking data relative to the ground truth in the at least subset to provide an output of the error relative to the ground truth.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2013Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Jon D. Publication number: 20140163285Abstract: A process of catalytically cracking a feedstock based on a biocomponent contacts the feedstock with a catalytic cracking catalyst comprising a basic metal oxide on a porous oxide support at an elevated cracking temperature to eliminate oxygen from the biocomponent to form cracked hydrocarbon residues. The basic metal oxide of the cracking catalyst is preferably a metal oxide of Group 2 of the Periodic Table (IUPAC) such as calcium or magnesium on a support comprised of a non-acidic form of alumina such as gibbsite or boehmite. Preferred feedstocks are those based on triglycerides, especially vegetable oils, animal fats and algae oils.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2013Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: EXXONMOBIL RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING COMPANYInventors: John Scott Buchanan, Halou Oumar-Mahamat, Wayne Richard Kliewer

Publication number: 20140090011Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and network architectures are disclosed for creating and implementing secure wireless, wired, and/or optical networks using specially modified “stealth” packets, cells, frames, and/or other “stealth” information structures. This enables stealth packets, network elements, and networks to have a low probability of detection, interception, and interpretation. The “stealth” packets, switches, networks, and methods provide invisibility or “cloaking” by modifying previously existing standards rules for packet structures, protocols, timing, synchronization, and other elements. Stealth packets, network elements, and networks may be further enhanced with encryption techniques by encrypting various parts of, or the entire packet structure itself, for example, headers, preambles, payload, and/or other packet elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: March 27, 2014Inventor: Wayne Richard Howe
