  • Publication number: 20080242887
Abstract: Disclosed is an optimized process and apparatus for more efficiently and economically carrying out the liquid-phase oxidation of an oxidizable compound. Such liquid-phase oxidation is carried out in a bubble column reactor that provides for a highly efficient reaction at relatively low temperatures. When the oxidized compound is para-xylene and the product from the oxidation reaction is crude terephthalic acid (CTA), such CTA product can be purified and separated by more economical techniques than could be employed if the CTA were formed by a conventional high-temperature oxidation process.

  • Publication number: 20080201754
Abstract: A set of media playback and device settings data from each home appliance of a first set of home appliances is stored on a central server and/or sent to a remote control device upon initiation of a suspend command by a user. The stored media and devices states may be used at a later time to control the first set of home appliances, or a user may, after relocating to a second set of home appliances, initiate a resume state command whereupon media playback and device settings data from the central server and/or remote control device controls each home appliance in the second set of home appliances to bring about the same or substantially similar media and device states as in the first set of home appliances.

  • Publication number: 20080137631
Abstract: A controlling device such as a remote control has programming for transmitting a signal response to a plurality of control environments, each environment including a signaling device. Each signaling device in receipt of the signal request sends a signal response having a unique ID which is chosen to be characteristically attenuated by the surroundings of the environment. Because the controlling device can only be in one environment at a given time, and given the attenuation characteristics of the signal response from each signaling device, only one signal response will be received by the controlling device in each environment. Location definitions associated with the received unique ID may be used by programming in the controlling device to recall saved devices states, commands sets, macros, and even to dynamically generate commands based on the location information.

  • Publication number: 20080121309
Abstract: This is a balloon filling system or device that can fill one or more balloons at a time. The balloon filler is intended for use in water balloon activities, such as games, where many balloons need to be filled at the same time. The balloon filler can be attached to any source or filler. The balloon filler can also be attached to a stand, such as a set of legs or a freestanding or mobile container, with a set of wheels. Some versions of the balloon filler can be preassembled, while others can be sold as a kit, which a user can assemble into many desired arrangements or configurations. The balloon material and the filling material can be from many choices. It can also cover the toys attached to the system.

  • Patent number: 7363028
Abstract: A controlling device location determination system and method. A controlling device such as a remote control has programming for transmitting a signal response to a plurality of control environments, each environment including a signaling device. Each signaling device in receipt of the signal request sends a signal response having a unique ID (associated with location definitions relating to the environment from which he signaling device is located) which is chosen to be characteristically attenuated by the surroundings of the environment (i.e., IR signals in a room). Because the controlling device can only be in one environment at a given time, and given the attenuation characteristics of the signal response from each signaling device, only one signal response will be received by the controlling device in each environment.

  • Publication number: 20080085656
Abstract: This covers a game kit, system, method, and device for the balloon games. A game kit for the Balloon Stomper/popping/hitting/kicking/bursting game. The kit consists of a balloon, a tether for the balloon, and a device for attaching the balloon to a player, as an example. As one example, the game involves tying a balloon to the ankle of each player. Then the players try to stomp on each other's balloons, while protecting their own balloon. The winner is the last person or team with a balloon that has not been popped. There are many other variations for the game/rules as explained here in more details. One problem with the game is that preparing a large number of game set-ups is time consuming and labor intensive. This is intended to make both set-up and clean-up of the balloon stomper game simpler. It also deals with the balloon weight setup and system.
