The adapter may be operable to couple with the head of a bone screw and may comprise a plurality of threads to permit coupling with holes located in a locking plate. The adapter may be configured to orient a bone screw at a desired trajectory.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating the fixation of bone fractures is disclosed. The system includes an anchor component comprising a tip having a substantially planar surface and a pointed cutting edge and cutting threads. A flexible wire is attached to the anchor component and the anchor component is inserted into a first object, navigated through the first object, and embedded into a second object. The system may further include a cap that may be threaded over the wire, such that the cap is restricted from backwards movement.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating the fixation of bone fractures is disclosed. The system includes a flexible wire attached to a tip. The tip may comprise a substantially planar surface and a pointed cutting edge and cutting threads. The system may further comprise a sleeve that is insertable over the flexible wire to provide additional stability and strength. The sleeve may be smooth or may comprise a gripping means to increase the holding strength of the system. The system and method may be used to deliver treatment to a bone to facilitate fixation. The treatment may comprise medications, adhesives, implants, fasteners, suturing materials, and/or other means of fixation.

A guide system may comprise a handle portion and a body portion, wherein the body portion comprises one or more channels configured to facilitate placement and insertion of a fixation device.

Abstract: An improved bone plate system which permits a user to customize the number and location of the fasteners so as to secure to a bone in a desired location. A bone plate system may comprise a frame, a track, an insertion niche, and one or more adjustable fastening plates and tension members.

Abstract: A gauge device that measures and displays the tension applied to a first object portion and a second object portion is disclosed. An exemplary gauge device comprises a first and second housing portion, a tension member, a compression member and a connector portion. The components of the gauge device may be cannulated so as to allow a wire (e.g., lagwire) connected to a first and second object portion to be inserted through the gauge device. When pressure is applied to the lagwire, the tension member is compressed causing the housing to translate horizontally along indicator, thus displaying the amount of tension applied.

Abstract: An improved bone screw is disclosed which includes a shaft with distal portion having a threaded surface thereon, a sleeve having an opening which receives the shaft such that the shaft is able to move within the sleeve without moving the sleeve. A compressive device may be incorporated between the sleeve and the proximal portion of the shaft such that the compressive device forces the shaft and sleeve towards at least a portion each other, thereby maintaining the compressive load at the union of the fracture. As additional compression is exerted on the load from weight bearing, the force may be reduced, but the head of the sleeve is still substantially maintained against the lateral cortex.

The cap is threaded over the wire such that the cap is restricted from backwards movement.

The head component includes a tip, cutting threads and mating threads which are inserted into the far cortex of the bone. A wire extends from the head component and exits from the near cortex. A cap device includes a tension spring, wherein the tension spring is configured to assert friction against the wire when the cap is translated in one direction, but minimal friction against the wire when the cap is translated in the opposite direction. The cap is threaded over the wire such that the cap is restricted from backwards movement. Tension is then applied to the wire while the cap is tightened against or within the bone surface to apply an appropriate amount of pressure between the surfaces of the fracture. The excess wire beyond the cap can then be removed.
