  • Publication number: 20120080402
Abstract: A planarization process may planarize a media disk that has data trenches between data features and larger servo trenches between servo features. A filler material layer is deposited on the media disk and provides step coverage of the trenches. The filler material has data recesses over the data trenches and servo recesses over the servo trenches that must be removed to produce a planar media surface. A first planarization process is used to remove the data recesses and a second planarization process is used to remove the servo recesses.

  • Patent number: 8126873
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product to optimize a database query. A query plan is generated for the database query where the query plan includes first and second subplans. Cached optimization data associated with the first subplan and generated during evaluation of another query plan for a previous query that uses the first subplan is retrieved. The first subplan is evaluated for resource cost using the retrieved optimization data. The second subplan is also evaluated for resource cost. The query plan is then evaluated for resource cost based upon the evaluations of resource cost for the first and second subplans. A query plan is selected based on evaluations of resource cost and the plan is executed to generate a result set.

  • Patent number: 8082265
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product dynamically activate and/or deactivate buffers during execution of a database query. The dynamic deactivation and activation is based on the monitoring of information associated with the consumption of data by a plurality of threads during execution of an access plan for the database query. By doing so, the selection of a less optimal buffer position during optimization may be replaced with a more optimal buffer position during runtime, often resulting in improved query performance and parallelism.

  • Patent number: 8074854
Abstract: A safety nailing device of the present invention includes a main body, an actuator, a striking plate and a disengaging means. The main body defines a chamber therein, and an opening is defined on a bottom surface of the main body to communicate with the chamber. The actuator is disposed on the main body and has a controlling end. The striking plate is disposed in the chamber and is movable between a safety position, a starting position and a striking position. The striking plate has a protrusive end and a controlling groove. The protrusive end selectively protrudes out of the chamber from the opening, and the controlling groove is selectively engaged with the controlling end. The disengaging means is for moving the striking plate to the safety position to disengage the controlling end from the controlling groove, so that the travel of the actuator will not lift the striking plate.

  • Patent number: 8060529
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for performing files/folder share between IM clients. In the present invention, when a source client shares out files/folders to a particular contact person/contact person group, an access control list table is established and said particular contact person/contact person group and the files/folders shared out to him are stored in association with each other. When a target client makes a request for accessing information of share items, obtaining items and beginning to receive items, the source client will respectively consult the access control list table to determine whether the request is authorized. Only when the request is authorized, can the source client perform the requesting operations. By means of the present invention, an automatic and flexible file/folder share between IM clients can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20110270076
Abstract: Provided is a method for removing noise of a positron emission tomography (PET) signal in a PET-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) fusion device without using an MRI radio frequency (RF) shield that degrades image quality. The method includes: receiving a PET output signal from a PET-MRI fusion device and performing analog filtering by removing noise components due to an RF pulse frequency based on the relationship between the frequency of the PET output signal and a magnetic resonance (MR) RF frequency (Larmor frequency); and converting the filtered signal into a digital signal through sampling. The method allows acquisition of molecular-level images without declined performance of a PET detector in MRI environment.
