  • Patent number: 6662415
Abstract: A fastener for lace includes an upper plate, a lower plate and first, second, third and fourth rods extending between the upper and lower plates. The upper and lower plates both include a front edge, a rear edge, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. The first and second rods extend between the first lateral edge of the upper plate and the first lateral edge of the lower plate. The third and fourth rods extend between the second lateral edge of the upper plate and the second lateral edge of the lower plate. A first length of lace is wound about the first rod and directed past the second rod. A second length of lace is wound about the third rod and directed past the fourth rod.

  • Patent number: 6621242
Abstract: A motor speed control having synchronous PWM signals has a synchronous phase detecting unit and a PWM control unit. The synchronous phase detecting unit detects the phase variation of a Hall signal, which represents the phase change of the motor, and outputs a digital value to the PWM control unit. The PWM control unit compares the digital value with a speed control command so as to obtain a PWM signal, wherein the PWM signal is synchronized with the Hall signal. Since the PWM signal is synchronized with the Hall signal, the motor is operated smoothly even in the low speed rotation, and audible noises are effectively reduced.

  • Publication number: 20030093697
Abstract: A method for preventing unauthorized persons from entering and using a computer facility includes storing the fingerprints of authorized persons in a control center or in a processor unit, detecting and comparing a fingerprint of a detected person to enter into the computer facility with the stored fingerprints to determine whether the detected fingerprint matches the stored fingerprints or not. The person is permitted to enter into the computer facility when the fingerprint matches with the stored fingerprints and/or the passwords matches with the stored passwords.

  • Publication number: 20030084312
Abstract: A method is used for preventing the users to use the interface card without the permission of the original supplier. A RAM and a memory are stored in the interface card and coupled with each other. A portion of an AP code and an STA code are stored in the memory and load into the RAM. Another portion of the AP code is stored in a member and loaded into the RAM for covering the STA code and for forming a complete AP code. The RAM of the interface card may be permitted to use only when or after the portions of the AP codes are matched with each other.

  • Patent number: 6553625
Abstract: A positioning hinge for providing pivotal positioning is disclosed. The positioning hinge comprises a pivotal member, a pivotal base, a first torsion spring and a friction device. The friction device includes a positioning element and a slide-friction member, which are kept in a resilient friction contact with each other by means of a resilient mechanism. This enables the LCD display to be opened due to the pivoting action of the pivotal base under the results of resilience and frictional positioning. It is appreciated that the above features advantageously result in an appropriate reduction in the opening speed of the LCD display while at the same time obtaining a steady frictional pivotal positioning, thereby prolonging the working life of the positioning hinge.

  • Patent number: 6529356
Abstract: A power polarity reversal protecting circuit for an integrated circuit includes a protecting transistor, PMOS components and NMOS components, wherein the protecting transistor is a protecting PMOS transistor or a protecting NMOS transistor. If the protecting transistor is the PMOS transistor, a gate and a source of the protecting PMOS transistor are respectively connected to ground and power. A drain and a substrate of the protecting PMOS transistor is connected to a substrate of the PMOS component. If the protecting transistor is the protecting NMOS transistor, a gate and a source of the protecting NMOS transistor are respectively connected to power and ground. A drain and a substrate of the protecting NMOS transistor is connected to a substrate of the NMOS component. When the power polarity is in reversal connection, the protecting transistors are terminated to prevent damage from the power polarity reversal connection.

  • Patent number: 6481057
Abstract: A positioning hinge for a notebook computer has multiple collars each provided with an obliquely formed friction plate. The friction plate engages a side face of an extension of a bracket configured to attach securely to a body of the computer to provide the necessary friction force to hole the monitor at an angle relative to the body of the computer. With such an arrangement, the friction force can be adjusted to accommodate different weights of the monitor by reducing or increasing the number of the collars.

  • Patent number: 5855040
Abstract: A hinge structure of rotary door, including a mechanical rotary hinge and a buffering rotary hinge inserted in a hinge casing. An upper section of the rotary shaft of the buffering rotary hinge is formed with two opposite ring seats. A flange body is slidably fitted around the rotary shaft between the ring seats. An upper and a lower edges of the flange body and the ring seats are respectively disposed with corresponding projecting wedge edges and recessed wedge edges so as to lift or lower the rotary shaft along with the opening or closing of the door. A flange body is formed with an insertion hole and the ring seat is formed with a slide slot to be inserted in the casing. A piston body disposed with oil seal ring is fitted with the end of the rotary shaft to be slidably disposed in an oil cylinder. The piston body is formed with an annular groove communicated with a lower chamber by several through holes for fast opening the door.

  • Patent number: 5831555
Abstract: A cover-actuated keyboard encoding system is disclosed which can be used either alone or as a part of a universal remote control unit. It contains (a) a keyboard; (b) a memory for storing a plurality of control codes; (c) a special keyboard cover for covering the first keyboard; and (d) a computer program to convert the covered keys of the first keyboard into a control code. The keyboard cover is designed such that it contains one or more key-seat protrusions which are arranged such that they will be pressing against one or more of the first keys when the keyboard cover is closed. A CPU is programmed to scan the key board and convert the scanned keyboard value to a control code, in accordance with the number and locations of the keys that are being pressed during a power-on or a reset.
