  • Patent number: 6609440
Abstract: A structure of a variable transmission device includes an input shaft driven by a motor to perform alternate rotation having a gear on a middle portion, an output shaft having a pair of gears secured to the upper and lower ends respectively and a speed changing shaft positioned between the input and output shaft having a pair of gears rotatably secured to two ends respectively meshed with the gears of the output shaft and a spiral outer periphery on a middle portion rotatably and slidably engaged with an inner threaded gear which meshes with the teeth of the gear of the input shaft. Thereby, the rotation of the input shaft drives the inner threaded gear to rotatably slide about the spiral outer periphery to force the gears of the speed changing shaft to rotate and in turn to drive the gears of the output shaft to rotate in concert with the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 6593707
Abstract: Two high-pressure discharge lampbanks and transformers thereof are connected via a cross connection manner. The two lamp banks include the same number of high-pressure discharge lamps, and the transformers are in a number corresponding to that of lamps in each lamp bank. All the transformers have two outputs, namely, first and second outputs, at a secondary side thereof. First outputs of all the transformers are separately connected to the lamps in a first one of the two high-pressure discharge lamp banks while second outputs of all the transformers are separately connected to the lamps in a second one of the two high-pressure discharge lamp banks. Thereby, lamps in the same lamp bank are maintained at a voltage having the same phase and have a small potential difference among them to avoid interference noises.

  • Patent number: 6583586
Abstract: A brightness-regulating voltage-transforming circuit includes a pulse-width modulator (PWM); a transformer connected at a secondary side to a high-pressure discharge lamp; a voltage-transforming circuit having two transistors connected at bases to outputs of the PWM for the latter to control working frequencies thereof; and a brightness control circuit including a transistor connected at a collector to a middle tap of the transformer and at a base to the PWM for the PWM to control the lamp brightness, and a diode connected at an end to a juncture of a primary side of the transformer and an end of a buffer inductance, and at another end to a voltage source. When the transistor of the brightness control circuit is cut out, energy stored in the buffer inductance is regenerated and sent to the voltage source via the diode, enabling the lamp to have reduced noise interference and increased working efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6218114
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of detecting a differentially expressed gene in a first sample of nucleic acids representing a first population of RNA transcripts and a second sample of nucleic acids representing a second population of RNA transcripts. The nucleic acids in the samples are labled with a member of specific binding pair, and the labeled nucleic acids in each sample are then hybridized to an excess of copies of a gene-specific sequence. The hybridized nucleic acids in each sample are further labeled by binding a second member of the specific binding pair to the first member, in which the second member has an activity to convert a chromogenic substrate into a chromogen. As a result of contacting the second member with the chromogenic substrate, the chromogenic substrate is converted into the chromogen. A difference in the amounts of chromogen produced from assaying the two samples indicate that the gene-specific sequence is differentially expressed in the samples.

  • Patent number: 6116376
Abstract: A muffler which reduces engine noise at lower operating speeds includes two spacers installed within a cylinder that is divided into a front chamber, a resonance canceling chamber and a noise canceling chamber. A first pressure returning tube and a second pressure returning tube are serially connected within the cylinder and a plurality of gas holes are circularly installed within the first pressure returning tube and the second pressure returning tube so that the first pressure returning tube and the second pressure returning tube pass through the front chamber, resonance cancelling chamber and noise cancelling chamber. A spacer circularly installed with a plurality of through holes is installed within the front chamber and the latter is divided into an expansion chamber and an air pressure regulating chamber. A central hole is located in the center of the spacer.

  • Patent number: 6000274
Abstract: A method for automatically detecting waste gas. The waste gas is led into a multiple switching valve through which the waste gas is sampled. Then, the waste gas sample is conveyed to an empty column and/or a chromatographic column, via the multiple switching valve. Then, the total hydrocarbon content of the waste gas sample is measured when the waste gas sample is conveyed to the empty column, and the waste gas sample is separated for measuring individual volatile organic compound concentrations of the waste gas sample when the waste as sample is conveyed to the chromatographic column.

The card connector comprises a header section having a plurality of terminal pins disposed within the header section. A first and second elongated arm section are integrally coupled with the header section. Each one of the arms extend from a first end to a second end thereby forming a slot which is adapted to receive the PC card and guide the PC card into electrical contact with the terminal pins. A guide housing is securely disposed over said first arm. A push-rod is slidably mounted within the guide housing and adapted to move from a first position to a second position. A post is disposed within the guide housing. A swing arm is pivotally mounted on the push-rod and is adapted to engage and disengage with the post as the push-rod moves from the first position to the second position. • Patent number: 5861946
Abstract: A system is provided for positioning a substrate having a surface required to be characterized with a contact angle measurement. The system includes a stage which supports the substrate and a dispenser assembly having a dispensing tip through which a liquid droplet having a preselected volume is dispensed onto the surface of the substrate. A first actuating mechanism moves the stage in response to first actuation signals and a second actuating mechanism which changes the vertical spacing between the dispensing tip and the surface of the substrate and dispenses the liquid droplet from the dispenser assembly in response to second actuation signals. A controller is connected to the actuating mechanisms and delivers the first and second actuation signals to the first and second actuating mechanisms, respectively, so as to place the liquid droplet at a predetermined location on the surface of the substrate for performing the contact angle measurement.
