Abstract: A multi-leaf solar energy supplying apparatus includes an energy converting module and an electrical power storing module. The energy converting module includes a solar energy board having a plurality of leaves for converting solar energy into electrical power. The electrical power storing module is electrically connected with the energy converting module for receiving electrical power to charge a secondary battery. Therefore, the secondary battery provides at least one output voltage to an application system. Furthermore, the energy converting module further includes at least one first power transmission port. When the energy converting module is separated from the electrical power storing module, the energy converting module is connected with the application system via the first power transmission port and provides a voltage to the application system. Thereby, the goals of charging and supplying power via solar power, and offering a power source that can be used anywhere are achieved.

  • Publication number: 20080312096
Abstract: Cancer markers may be developed to detect diseases characterized by increased expression of apoptosis-suppressing genes, such as aggressive cancers. Genes in the human chromosomal regions, 8q24, 11q13, 20q11-q13, were found to be amplified indicating in vivo drug resistance in diseases such as ovarian cancer. Diagnosis and assessment of amplification levels certain genes shown to be amplified, including PVT1, can be useful in prediction of poor outcome of patient's response and drug resistance in ovarian cancer patients with low survival rates. Certain genes were found to be high priority therapeutic targets by the identification of recurrent aberrations involving genome sequence, copy number and/or gene expression are associated with reduced survival duration in certain diseases and cancers, specifically ovarian cancer. Therapeutics to inhibit amplification and inhibitors of one of these genes, PVT1, target drug resistance in ovarian cancer patients with low survival rates is described.

  • Publication number: 20080292230
Abstract: A lubricated bushing is mounted in a mounting cavity in a bushing housing and has a body and a flange. The body has an axial hole formed coaxially through the body to rotatably hold a shaft of a rotor of a fan and a bottom concentric recess formed in a bottom end of the body. The flange is formed on and protrudes radially out from the outer wall of the body, is mounted against an inner wall of the mounting recess, extends longitudinally from the top end of body and is shorter than half the body. Even though the inner wall of the mounting cavity tightly compresses the flange, the compressive force cannot be effectively transmitted to the body to deform the axial hole, so the shaft is kept from seizing up in the axial hole.

  • Publication number: 20080290380
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes a substrate and a gate formed on the substrate. A gate spacer is formed next to the gate. The gate spacer has a height greater than the height of the gate. A method of forming a semiconductor device includes providing a substrate with a gate layer. A hard mask layer is formed over the gate layer, and both layers are then etched using a pattern, forming a gate and a hard mask. A spacer layer is then deposited over the substrate, gate, and hard mask. The spacer layer is etched to form a gate spacer next to the gate. The hard mask is then removed.

  • Patent number: 7450332
Abstract: In an integrated free-fall detection device for a portable apparatus an acceleration sensor generates acceleration signals correlated to the components of the acceleration of the portable apparatus along three detection axes. A dedicated purely hardware circuit connected to the acceleration sensor generates a free-fall detection signal in a continuous way and in real-time. The free-fall detection signal has a first logic value in the event that the acceleration signals are simultaneously lower than a respective acceleration threshold, and is sent to a processor unit of the portable apparatus as an interrupt signal to activate appropriate actions of protection for the portable apparatus. Preferably, the acceleration sensor and the dedicated purely hardware circuit are integrated in a single chip and the acceleration sensor is made as a MEMS.

  • Publication number: 20080258162
Abstract: A package for a high-power light emitting diode (LED) has a packaging substrate, at least one LED chip, at least one pair of conductive wires and an encapsulant. The packaging substrate has a reflective base with a recess, a dissipating board and at least one pair of electrodes. The electrodes and dissipating board are mounted in the reflective base and have upper surfaces. The LED chip is adhered to the dissipating board. The conductive wires connects electrodes of the LED chip and the electrodes. The encapsulant is transparent and fills the recess of the reflective base. Most heat from the LED chip is conducted via the dissipating board, thereby improving thermal conduction efficiency and allowing more powerful or numerous LED chips in the package. Therefore, the package provides different pass ways for conducting heat and electricity to improve heat conduction of the LED.

  • Publication number: 20080237746
Abstract: A gated-diode semiconductor device or similar component and a method of fabricating the device. The device features a gate structure disposed on a substrate over a channel and adjacent a source and a drain. The top of the source or drain region, or both, are formed so as to be at a higher elevation, in whole or in part, than the bottom of the gate structure. This configuration may be achieved by overlaying the gate structure and substrate with a profile layer that guides a subsequent etch process to create a sloped profile. The source and drain, if both are present, may be symmetrical or asymmetrical. This configuration significantly reduces dopant encroachment and, as a consequence, reduces junction leakage.
