  • Publication number: 20070220540
Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, a system determines an image, selects a panel of participants, and outputs the image to each of the participants of the panel of participants. The image may be an image of a garment a shopper is considering purchasing, an image of the shopper wearing the garment, or an image of a virtual model of the shopper combined with an image of the garment. The panel of participants may be selected based on a characteristic associated with the shopper. The image may be output to the panel of participants along with a request for an opinion regarding the garment (e.g., “Buy It” or “Don't Buy It”). The responses may be collected from the participants and an indication of the results may be output to the shopper.

  • Publication number: 20070185951
Abstract: A specialized processing block for a programmable logic device includes circuitry for performing multiplications and sums thereof, as well as circuitry for rounding the result. The rounding circuitry can selectably perform round-to-nearest and round-to-nearest-even operations. In addition, the bit position at which rounding occurs is preferably selectable. The specialized processing block preferably also includes saturation circuitry to prevent overflows and underflows, and the bit position at which saturation occurs also preferably is selectable. The selectability of both the rounding and saturation positions provides control of the output data word width. The rounding and saturation circuitry may be selectably located in different positions based on timing needs. Similarly, rounding may be speeded up using a look-ahead mode in which both rounded and unrounded results are computed in parallel, with the rounding logic selecting between those results.

  • Publication number: 20070159536
Abstract: A white balance control method is disclosed. The method first sets an initial white balance setting. Secondly, based on the white balance setting, an image is obtained. Both averaged RGB values of the whole image and white pixel are obtained. Information of both averaged RGB values of the whole image and white pixel are respectively used to calculate white balance information. Thirdly, both white balance information of the whole image and the white pixel RGB are used to determine whether the current white balance status matches the actual ambient lighting condition or not. If the determination result shows there is a need to select a new white balance status, a new white balance setting is then set. Finally, the procedure is returned back to acquire a new image and the above steps are repeated. The disclosure of the present invention can be applied to an image processing apparatus and method.

  • Patent number: 7236529
Abstract: Methods and systems for transcoding a video sequence in a discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain, wherein a transcoder receives a video bit-stream including frames and each of the frames including blocks. The video bit-stream includes an intra-frame and an inter-frame that has been encoded by motion compensation based on the intra-frame or another inter-frame. A DCT-domain motion compensation module in the transcoder re-calculates first DCT coefficients for a target block in the inter-frame. For this re-calculation of the first DCT coefficients, the motion compensation module inputs second DCT coefficients of neighboring blocks in the inter-frame, and calculates partial DCT coefficients, using significant ones of the second DCT coefficients of the neighboring blocks.

  • Patent number: 7227894
Abstract: An architecture of a fine granularity scalable (FGS) codec has an encoder and a decoder configurable in three prediction modes. The coarse prediction loop in the base layer of the encoder has a switch for selecting either coarse prediction output or fine prediction output in the encoder. The fine prediction loop in the enhancement layer of the encoder also has a switch for selecting either coarse prediction output or fine prediction output. Two-pass encoding is used in the encoder. The first pass extracts coding parameters and classifies macroblocks of a video frame into three groups each being assigned with all-coarse prediction mode, all-fine prediction mode or mix prediction. The second pass uses the assigned modes to encode the macroblocks. A rate adaptation algorithm is provided to truncate the enhancement bit-planes for low bit rate, medium bit rate and high bit rate and allocate bit efficiently for achieving higher video quality.
