  • Publication number: 20040212593
Abstract: An improved optical mechanism of an optical mouse is disclosed. The improved optical mechanism is implemented inside the optical mouse and applies a layer of black coating or a surface processing to surface adjacent to photosensor surroundings to thus form an absorbing layer for absorbing reflecting light not directly projected to a photosensor, thereby advantageously receiving relatively high light points by the photosensor and increasing light-and-shade contrast, i.e., stressing the corresponding light as the light is directly projected to the photosensor and otherwise, the corresponding shade is stressed. Therefore, the performance on determining the mouse image is actually increased.

  • Publication number: 20040212592
Abstract: A light guiding device of an optical mouse is disclosed. The light guiding device is implemented inside the optical mouse applied to an operating surface. The optical mouse has a light device to project an incident light. The light guiding device includes a first lens part facing to the light device for receiving the incident light. The incident light received is focused and then projected to a prism plane for total reflection such that the incident light is directed to a slope plane arranged obliquely towards the same direction as the prism plane. The incident light is further refracted slight downwardly into a cavity defined by a bottom of the light guiding device through the slope plane and finally projected on the operating surface through a bottom opening of the optical mouse.

  • Publication number: 20040212805
Abstract: An optical input device capable of determining properties of a reflective plane is disclosed. The optical input device applies a light device to project an incident light to the reflective plane. In accordance with the law of reflection, the incident light projected on the reflective plane produces reflecting light, diffusing light and transmitting light, respectively. The optical input device includes a first photosensor, a second photosensor and a microprocessor. The first photosensor receives a part of diffusing light to accordingly compute a total diffusing light. The second photosensor senses reflecting light. The microprocessor computes energy of the transmitting light in accordance with the law of energy conservation and accordingly determines if transmitting light consisting of light beams passes through the reflective plane. If yes, the reflective plane is determined to be formed of a transparent material, otherwise, it is determined to be formed of an opaque material.

  • Publication number: 20030179312
Abstract: An auto-strobe apparatus and an auto-strobe method for the digital camera are provided. There is provided a variable reference voltage signal being inversely proportional to a product of an analog gain, a digital gain, and a gamma value of the digital camera. When taking a picture and generating flash, the brightness is detected and, when a voltage signal representing the detected brightness is larger than the variable reference voltage signal, the flash is stopped.

  • Patent number: 6614995
Abstract: There are provided an apparatus and a method for compensating auto-focus of image capture device by utilizing red-eye eliminating function. An auto-focus module preliminarily determines a first distance from an object to the image capture device based on a first focal length evaluation value of the object, so as to perform a rough adjustment of the focal length. Whenever a red-eye eliminating device flashes to eliminate red-eye effect, the image sensor captures the image of the object so as to obtain a second focal length evaluation value of the object. The auto-focus module determines a second distance from the object to the image fetching device based on the second focal length evaluation value of the object, thereby performing a fine adjustment of the focal length.

  • Patent number: 6529235
Abstract: There are provided an auto white balance apparatus and an auto white balance method in a digital camera with a strobe. The digital camera has an image sensor for capturing external images and a flash module. The flash module stops flashing when a first voltage signal representing a detected brightness of the flash module is larger than a reference voltage signal. An exposure time is determined based on brightness of the image captured by the image sensor. The flash module detects brightness based on the exposure time for establishing a second voltage signal. A white balance adjustment is performed based on a ratio of the reference voltage signal and the second voltage signal.

  • Patent number: 6411279
Abstract: A power saving device is adapted to be incorporated in a cableless computer mouse for reducing power consumption thereof. The power saving device includes a wheel rotatable in unison with an encoding disk of the mouse and at least one pair of conductive contact members respectively connected to a power source and a microprocessor. The contact members have engaging sections forming a normally open loop. The wheel forms a plurality of alternating conductive and nonconductive sections engaging with the engaging sections of the contact members. The conductive sections are electrically connected to each other and may short the contact members when simultaneously engaging with the engaging sections. A control signal is thus generated and applied to the microprocessor of the mouse. The microprocessor may force the mouse into an idle condition for reducing power consumption after having not received the control signal for a predetermined period of time.
