    Abstract: Recesses are formed on a front side and a rear side of a waveguide. A solid porogen material is spun onto the front side and the rear side and fills the recesses. First front and rear cap layers are then formed on raised formations of the waveguide and on the solid porogen material. The entire structure is then heated and the solid porogen material decomposes to a porogen gas. The first front and rear cap layers are porous to allow the porogen gas to escape and air to enter into the recesses. The air maximizes a difference in refractive indices between the high-index transparent material of the waveguide and the air to promote reflection in the waveguide from interfaces between the waveguide and the air.

The piezoelectric vibrator includes a piezoelectric body and an amplifying unit fixedly supported on at least one of two opposite sides of the piezoelectric body. The piezoelectric body comprises a single-layer or multi-layer material with a piezoelectric effect. The amplifying unit is a flat structure formed by an elastic reinforcing element and having a same shape as the piezoelectric body. The elastic reinforcing element is a metal sheet. The piezoelectric body, when an external voltage is applied, expands or contracts along a first direction parallel to a plane of the piezoelectric body, and simultaneously, the amplifying unit contracts or expands along a second direction. The first direction and the second direction are perpendicular to each other.

One example encoding device obtains symbol probabilities for symbols of a symbol sequence given an effective interference based on a target distribution of symbols of a transmit signal, encodes a message into the symbol sequence based on the symbol probabilities, and then obtains the transmit signal based on a mapping of the symbol sequence and the effective interference using a scalar function. One example decoding device obtains a receive signal, obtains a symbol sequence based on the receive signal and a scaling factor using a scalar function, and then decodes the symbol sequence to obtain a message.

    Abstract: A method for quantitative analysis of a cavity at the top of a concrete-filled steel tube is disclosed. By substitution of the determined inner radius of the steel tube, the thickness of the steel tube wall and the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in the steel tube and in the concrete, the propagation time of the ultrasonic wave between the top and the bottom of the concrete-filled steel tube enables calculation of the height of the cavity. The method can be used to quantify the cavity height at the top of the concrete-filled steel tube, with small relative errors and high accuracy.

    Abstract: A method for positioning an underwater glider based on a virtual TDOA of a single beacon is provided. In the method, a positioning beacon periodically sends positioning messages, where the positioning message includes longitude, latitude and depth information of the positioning beacon; the underwater glider receives the positioning messages and records TOAs at which the positioning messages arrive at an acoustic positioning signal receiving module; and the underwater glider parses the positioning messages and stores positioning message data, creates virtual beacons based on beacon information and attitude information of the underwater glider, corrects the TOAs, and calculates a position of the underwater glider according to a TDOA algorithm. According to the method, the underwater glider passively listens to and receives the positioning messages without sending a positioning request to the positioning beacon, making the entire positioning process energy-saving with a certain degree of concealment.
