When the frequency difference between the pump light and the detecting light is equal to the Brillouin frequency shift of a certain region in the fibers, the region produces the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect, so that through determining the frequency shift and power of the Brillouin scattering signal, the temperature and stress of the sensing fibers are obtained.
